You would think if they thought people were getting mistaken between the two it would be to their benefit, they are getting some free advertising on the world's number 1 football teams shirts, something that would cost them millions.

Other than that it seems a very silly venture, nobody is that stupid to think the tops are designed or made by SupersDry, hopefully, this will cost them a lot of money and another company goes on the do not buy anything off list.

We should invoice them for advertising. Cheeky cunts.

Normally I enjoy Ronay's work but this one left me very confused. Maybe that's the point?
Lots of waffle with a copy deadline to meet at a guess, plus probably had a brief of ‘do something on united’

The line ‘… the Arthurian magnificence of Manchester United…’ will surely go down in the annals of journalistic pseudo intellectual bollox

It’s a bit of a minefield the trademark lark isn’t it. The best ones were in Tenerife with beauty’s like Argus, Dixon and Curries being some of the less thought out electrical shops then we had a witherspoons and Yate’s along with some others! Haha!
It’s a huge area of law, both in terms of companies asserting their legal rights and the subsequent enforcement of those rights.

Nobody’ s curing cancer though, are they? Not exactly uplifting.

It seems on a par with ambulance chasing, no one thought it was the same, no one cared but where there’s blame there’s a claim.

Something that certainly went down was the intellect of pseudo journalistic anals.

I’m not sure it’s as reprehensible as that sector, and the quality of the legal progressionals is on another level. Not even close.
This is true. And much more valuable to brands than almost any other professional, with the exception of the creative people, obviously.

Edit: I also like the idea of legal progressionals. Never stand still in that profession.

He’s a decent writer. I think he has a good way with words, but he is sometimes prone to bollocks like that.

Everything about them has to be analysed to the nth degree when the reality is much more simple. They're the footballing equivalent of Boris Johnson. Lots of bluff and bluster but very little substance.

For better or worse, we live in a capitalist economy and people who invest in and develop brands deserve protection under the law, so it’s necessary, and understandably very lucrative, and professionally you are up against very clever people, which any self respecting legal professional should relish - it’s just not really uplifting.

My girlfriend used to work in advertising and she described that industry along similar lines. Very well rewarded, exciting but a bit soulless.

Some people aren’t arsed about any of that though. We’re all different. We all have different priorities.

Just watched Spurs v Burnley commentary team could not have been further up Tottenhams arse, another set of media darlings. Was sure they would mention Ricky bastard Villa but also managed a mention for 2013 cup final. This biggest upset in history when one premier league team narrowly beat another, would have thought Spurs v Coventry more relevant. F** k off Spurs just behind Rags and dippers on my shit list.
Leeds v Sunderland 73 ?

You’ll know better than me but if you’ve got opportunists trying to trademark Liverpool, posh & a few others.

Obviously it’s vitally important to protect your brand, I’m always reminded on my trips to Bali ;-)
