Was hoping it was because the club had acknowledged the problems fans have in getting home after the game and that all future midweeks would have earlier kick offs. Too much to hope for I suppose.

It's different for everyone, 8pm is much better for me as 7-30pm is much tighter for getting from work on midweek nights.

I’d say Sunday is favourite from a TV angle assuming Sky would like it to be the 4:30 kickoff but no obvious reason why it can’t be Saturday. FA Cup fifth round is the previous midweek so there could theoretically be a game or two on the Thursday but last season, the ties were all played on Tuesday and Wednesday.
We play Copenhagen the following Wednesday while after their European exit, the rags have a few days off so the only thing that rules out is Monday night which was never likely to happen anyway.

Do broadcasters have a restriction on how many times they can show a team? I know there’s a minimum number of TV appearances that each PL team is guaranteed to reach but I’ve never heard of an upper limit.

To the best of my knowledge that’s a midweek programme where TNT shows every game (similar to the one at the end of this month when we play Burnley).
Based on that there will be games on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday and nothing will be certain until the April TV games are confirmed.
Having said all that, should the Arsenal game the previous weekend get moved to Sunday which people are claiming is likely, Villa can’t be on the Tuesday. And the following midweek is CL QF so scheduling a team potentially involved there for Thursday could get very messy if they can’t play on the following Sunday due to a CL game on Tuesday.
So I’d say that the current Wednesday date is strong favourite for Villa but definitely wait for the TV games to be confirmed before assuming it’s cast in stone.
