PL charge City for alleged breaches of financial rules

Came across this write up about Tebas.

Few extracts:

LaLiga president Javier Tebas admits he has “denounced” Manchester City to UEFA and is now keenly observing whether an independent panel will find the club guilty following 115 charges for breaches of the Premier League’s Profit and Sustainability Rules.

There is no denying there have been many irregularities,” said Tebas, speaking to Caught Offside in Saudi Arabia where he is visiting for the Club World Cup which Manchester City are favourites to win. “We already denounced these to UEFA. We don’t yet know what the decision from the Premier League’s case against the club will be, but Manchester City were already sanctioned by UEFA once, yet due to a formal defect they appealed at CAS.

Tebas is currently in Jeddah and working closely with Saudi authorities. LaLiga recently announced Visit Saudi as a partner and they are exploring opening a new Saudi office in 2024.

Yet back in 2020 Tebas told reporters in London that Saudi’s sports project is “whitewashing” and accused the government of being part of the pirate network channel ‘beoutQ’, which stole LaLiga games along with other high-profile sports rights from Qatari broadcaster beIN Sports.

I said that [Saudi Arabia was using sport to ‘whitewash’] three years ago in London and back then I didn’t know enough about Saudi Arabia and their plans,” he said. “Now, I have changed my mind and seen great progress in Saudi. I have changed my mind generally about Saudi because the country has been changing a lot. It’s more open now and it would be a huge error not to change my opinion about Saudi as a result”

“I would accept a job to be the Saudi Pro League president!” Lol

Essentially, after all this time, reading threads, reports and opinions from those who deal with this sort of thing on a daily basis, the main reason i'm so confident about City being found not guilty of any accusation is this; City have got some exceptionally intelligent business minds in control of the club, and managed to ensure the day-to-day investment of the club wasn't affected by the new FFP rules by deploying said business brains to work within them.

Meanwhile the Premier League have got some exceptional dunces who cannot even fathom how such business practices are possible, so the only explanation in their minds as to how City could continue to invest in the squad is "fraud" and "underhand dealings". They can't understand business, so they attack those that do.

My only fears are of this independent panel and how impartial they are going to be, or if they too are filled with people who don't understand business or the law. I don't believe City have done anything wrong; our battle has mostly been about convincing ignorant people of that by explaining how our business practices work.

I wouldn't necessarily take that as fact, Henry Winter did himself few favours in that article, painting Berrada as "the man who brought Haaland to City", as if Txiki, Pep and Soriano were mere bit-part players!
Erling, Alfie and his agent brought him to City they did an analysis based on specific criteria that would help him further his career, the outcome of that was that City were / are the best next step for him Although I didn't see the analysis I would be staggered if Omar Berrada was mentioned Omar's role would have been the commercial side of the deal for which he would have been part of the commercial team including CEO and CFO approved by the Chairman Winter is talking shite

Is he not dead yet what a shame..

After all the reports recently and a slight change in tone from some in the media coinciding with Omar jumping to the rags I have a feeling the case is collapsing and hopefully we will hear something soon. I know another 12/18 months is estimated before a decision is reached but I can’t help think of the secrecy surrounding this whole case. It could drop anytime if the tribunal think the evidence is bullshit and impossible to prove. Instead focusing on the smaller issues to save face and stop the speculation and damage it is causing both City and the league.

Hey lads, Wrexham fan here - go easy! Like you, we're high on everyone's agenda since we came into some well deserved investment and attention. Jealousy is a huge part of daily life. Looking at Citys case though, do none of you believe you've never done anything wrong or is it just a huge conspiracy borne out of jealousy and envy? And if found guilty, what kind of punishment are you expecting? Cheers.
I'll take you at face value and believe you're a Wrexham fan. I like the story there and from what I can see there is definitely a lot of jealousy and resentment. It's strange that Salford City don't seem to get the same shite - however, we all know why.

As for us, well you need to remember that this site isn't representative of all Blues. I've seen opinions on here that I've never heard at a match. I'm not sure there's a huge conspiracy against us in the PL, but I do think there's undue influence from a number of clubs and I genuinely believe the biggest danger to the game in this country are the American owners in the PL.

I think the punishments handed out aren't doing the league any good.

This is from a ManUre season ticket holder on a work group chat I'm involved in. The situation that the Premier League has made for itself is fairly similar isn't it? ;)

'To some it up here’s an anology for you in idiot terms.

Tyson fury is the heavyweight champion of the world and has been for the last few years. In them years he has won every fight. However it has been found that in those years he wore 4 ounce gloves with no padding in them while his opponents all wore 10 ounce with padding.

Yeh he holds the belts but through being a cheating little twat'
Clearly hes no idea of the charges Using a sporting analogy to describe a commercial accusation

Nah.

Your owners are white Americans and aren't dealing with the likes of United or Liverpool, so it's seen as Wrexham living the dream rather than 'financial doping'.
Our owners aren't providing billions to the UK economy either though. Positive I've read your owners (indirectly) are very pally with the Tory government so maybe that will help in the long run? Either outcome is going to be a war - City are found innocent, every club who have been punished so far or have stuck by FFP and been denied trophies etc will be outraged. Then, if City are found guilty, there'll be a massive, lengthy process of appeals and legal wrangling.

Either way, it's absolutely tarnished the Premier League. We're only little Wrexham but I'm glad we've bypassed this era of the Premier League. It's all corrupt.

The Telegraph article about the sports minister meeting is on this paywall free link here:

See the extract below.

And also in the full article: As detailed by Telegraph Sport last week, there will be developments as early as this week, although precisely what remains unclear" which is shorthand for we don't have any details this week or, indeed, as we speculated last week.

What's the latest from your contact? Last I heard from you, apologies if I'm wrong, is that this is all going to collapse pretty soon and the Mickey mousers are on "our side". Anything new?

The panel need to present evidence that shows a high level of fraud. If they are competent then it’s not likely they have such evidence to find guilt

If they are less knowledgable they are not going to be able to reach a verdict of guilt that overrides the evidence no doubt supplied by City’s legal team

All the above is based on what happened at CAS

The caveat is that they have a smoking gun. If they do then I am sure the case would have been fast forwarded by now

It's a catch 22 with Nick Harris, I don't think there's any doubt he's now suffering with a Mental Illness. Is it o.k to take the piss still as the illness is just City related?

He's mentioned this morning that he 'left his newspaper job' in November and he's now basically promoting his work on his substack site.

Similar to how Joey Barton sought to gain interest and followers just before launching a new podcast, Harris is just after people to sign up so throwing as much shite out there about us as he can. The more of a 'revelation' he can make any of it seem, the more money he'll get.

Can't stand C*ntona, but the nonsense he spoke about seagulls following trawlers was never truer. And we are a big fucking trawler with a load of desperate, starving gulls following, desperate for any scrap they can find before the ship sails off gleaming into the sunset.

Your last paragraph kind of sums up where I am, maybe wishful thinking. Everton got banged with an immediate points deduction, surely if we had an egregious transgression we would also have been banged a year ago. So we are back to out of context emails and wild accusations. It’s also worth remembering eight of the EPL “share holders” aka the hateful eight, sent an email to CAS in the middle of the COVID lockdown and ahead of our case being heard, petitioning them to uphold the UEFA ban. This same group of share holders are the ones who are behind the current allegations.

I think we have the chance of taking it to the High Court if we can show that the hearing was procedurally flawed. Other than that I think there is also a possibility of convening a new IC panel. But yeah, there is no CAS as such - I think this is effectively CAS for us in this case.*

* I have no legal knowledge so this may be wrong

If they can't establish fraud, then they can't win in the long term

If they find us guilty under the balance of probabilities, with the overriding inference of fraud, than City are able to take this to a proper Court.

Your work colleague has tried to be clever but got himself totally muddled.

“idiot terms” sets the narrative to what sort of person he is.
His tyson fury analogy is just silly. A similar situation is that we played with 12 men for all these years and nobody knew, but now they do , and are furious and we have been found out to be cheats.

He could say its not fair because we have spent more than anybody, but thats not true either. That would be his own club

The silly ****
