PL charge City for alleged breaches of financial rules

Maybe not striking a deal as such but somebody else made the point that the independent panel are probably busy working on the case now and assessing everything ahead of the hearing date. Surely they don't just pitch up on the day of the hearing and start looking at things then - perhaps somebody better qualified than me can clarify? So if they are working on it now then it is possible that some of the charges fall away before the date of the hearing IF there's little in the way of cogent evidence?

The hearing is only there to deal with things that can't be dealt with via written submissions. They will set an agenda for the hearing once they've reviewed the written submissions from both parties in order to focus on the key issues, which will probably follow closely the key issues at CAS. We can then bring our witnesses along from the various sponsors who can say "that money came from us and not HHSM". And the panel will be left with hacked emails vs witness testimony and financial accounts to balance whether City are right or the PL are. The one thing I struggle with is how CAS only found 2-1 in our favour. With CAS we pick an arbiter, UEFA pick one and then CAS appoint one. So I'm guessing the UEFA arbiter found against us...I'm not sure how based on the evidence presented, but that's the one thing that causes me nervousness with this "independent" panel.

The delay in the hearing is only making the Premier league look like fools , it appears the charges were made well before they had the evidence to proceed with the charges , they were forced into their announcement due to the impending white paper for a government football regulator.

Master's wanted to give the impression that the Premier league can rule with an iron fist hence the Everton, Forest charges but all they are doing is damaging their "brand" world wide at the behest of a couple of football clubs who are trying to run roughshod over the other eighteen Premier league clubs.

After our verdict i can see massive changes , Masters falling on his sword and the inroduction of a government regulator who hopefully will consider all twenty clubs , not just two of them

The delay is not doing anyone any favours and even more so for us.

We won a magnificent treble yet it was in the eyes of some tainted because of this witch hunt.

It needs sorting and very quickly.

Just to indulge you though, this isn’t about conspiracy theories or jealousy (although conversely it is as well). It’s about a presumption of guilt without the inconvenience of a fair hearing, and a media smear campaign driven by a load of rag and dipper stooges, designed to permanently eliminate a rival who has cost them tens of millions of pounds every year for well over a decade.

I doubt there’s anyone on this forum - and we’ve got some serious players on here, some with real, top level expertise, and others with contacts at the club - who actually knows if we’re guilty or not (although tellingly our resident experts seem to be universally of the opinion that what we are accused of seems far fetched), and on that basis I’m relatively certain that ‘Dave from Bootle’ or ’Tony the rag from Donegal’ have even less idea, and the same goes for Simon fucking Jordan, Big Jim Shite, Paddy Power, Spitty Carragher, anyone named Harris and the bottom feeding, click chasers at the Daily Mail.
And yet despite no-one really knowing whether we ”did it”, didn’t do it, or perhaps did things that whilst they may seem illegal, actually aren’t, we have been found guilty without a legal ball having been kicked, and the false equivalence of the Everton situation, which has been used as just another stick with which to beat us, has brought that fact into even sharper relief. Disingenuous screaming for us to be punished without the hearing panel having even been convened, never mind delivered a verdict, simply because a load of thick twats can’t get their heads around the notion of a complex fraud case with a million documents and a not guilty plea, taking a teensy weensy bit longer to conclude than a case involving a guilty plea and the simple use of a calculator to extrapolate whether A minus B equals a number above or below C, is our daily lot.

Your last sentence sums it up. Not ‘do you expect to be found guilty or not guilty?’, but rather ‘what kind of punishment do you expect?’.

It takes some balls to come on here after the decade we have had and ask what the punishment will be if the panel finds in favour of the PL. He can't be surprised if they get chopped off and fed to him.

Thanks for that pal. Weird how anyone asking any kind of question apart from "Why are City being persecuted for nothing?!" is instantly a wind up. What I will say is that if City are found innocent, the Premier League need suing. 115 charges is insane if not proven. On the other hand, with Everton being docked 10 points for a lesser charge, surely a guilty punishment would be huge? What are your thoughts on Everton and Forest btw? I'm wondering if the PL have made them patsies so they can slip these charges on City and then say "See, its not just you!".

Do you think stripping titles to appease the "bigger clubs" is the agenda?

The thing is the 115 is partly a media invention.
There's a relatively small number of actual charges but because they have a different rule number each year, it got listed as far more.

Mind you, they corrected the initially released list which alleged that City were guilty of not entering the FA Cup (because they either didn't realise that the rule number changed, or because it was a horrible rush 2 days before the govt white paper on regulation was issued - you decide!).

I've been reading a guy on Twitter, Russell Scott and that's what's piqued my interest. The way he puts it, it's cut and dried and involves high level conspiracy and cover ups. Sounds crazy tbh. If it was all true, surely City would already have been brought to book and punished accordingly? A lot of Liverpool fans I know are already counting titles they're going to be given "when justice is served". They almost sound desperate.

It's a mess isn't it. The fact that "115" has become a rallying cry is directly a result of their poor comms. They could have just announced that the PL was investigating and charging City on historical irregularities, that it would take several years to complete, and have left it there. I suspect they thought they were being "neutral" but it backfired massively for them.

The PL has bungled the case from start to finish. The 115 charges narrative piled the pressure on them. It was madness to pour fuel on the flames.

I imagine all of the criticism about how long the process is taking, from fans, pundits and journalists alike, must be stinging the PL. As mentioned previously, it’s causing considerable reputational damage to them now. Are they really going to try and ride it out for the next 18 months?

I guess the only way they could plausibly expedite the process would be to drop some of the harder to prove charges or try and strike a deal, but that seems highly improbable. Not even sure if that’s possible now that it’s been referred to an independent commission?! What a mess they’ve got themselves into.

Just to clarify, Omar wasn't at the club when the original Etihad and Etisalat deals were made.

But the point is still valid, because I haven't seen many media outlets claim to know anything about the details behind our case. It's always just 115 charges or "over 100 charges" in the headlines. But the papers now clearly know enough about the facts to dismiss Omar's part in any of them! Maybe everyone should head over to the rags, they'll be cleared via media trial to suit the new agenda and then they can come back again.

If they fail to make the expanded UCL comp next year they will loose out on really significant revenues. Come on Villa and the Barcodes take those 4th and 5th places.

Wasn't Harris losing his mind over the fact City had met government?! This sounds about as standard as these things go given City's current status.
