He is absolutely amazing football player
Which every team in Europe would like in their squad. He seems to be a very positive and humble guy, works hard and his numbers are also good. Despite everything I just said, his first touch and his ability to keep the ball is not at City's level in my opinion. When he's on the field I'm not quiet in terms of keeping the ball. He is a wonderful striker, he is not a midfielder and Pep needs to stop that.
Today he was on the wing, should be little less dangerou place to lose the ball than in the middle and we still almost conceded at least twice from him losing the ball.

19 times lost possession. That's bad. Ake's passes didn't help either.

Alvarez isn't a left-sided midfielder or winger. That was a problematic decision. The better option would have been Foden on the left, Bernie on the right and Kova next to Rodri. We missed Grealish. Shame that Doku isn't in top form either.

Pep would rather play Kevin next to Kevin than Alvarez.

I personally don’t rate Kevin in that position and prefer Kevin deeper in midfield rather then right up next to Haaland.

This means Alvarez not only has zero chance of starting ahead of Haaland but he also has very little chance of playing next to Haaland. Meaning he will get very limited game time or be pushed elsewhere where he is ineffective. The later is happening right now.

Play him as the striker in Haaland's position or next to the striker in Kevin's position.

That's 2 spots he can play, forcing him into a winger or midfield role is just too far from Pep.

not a winger, not a midfielder. not his fault imho. only 56% pass accuracy today.

that theory that he has to play so he doesn’t leave, would pep really do that?
It could turn out to be like Pep's Cesc Fabregas fiasco at Barca. I'm praying Pep stops playing Alvarez anywhere but as a number 9. If he stops, we can still do some more big things. If he insists on playing him out of position we will not be winning anything this year, simple as...

Got to be honest, I've wanted to see him on the wing for a while now, thought he could be a better fit there than as an 8/10. It did not work today, i wouldnt abandon the idea entirely after his second game there in the toughest match of our season though. His touch isn't great at the best of times but it was especially poor today and it got us into all manner of problems.

I would certainly abandon it from now through June...

Feel sorry for him. A truly talented player hung out to dry to accommodate others.
Yes and this I agree with.
He's a world cup winning striker that's being played out of position for an underperforming haaland. It's hardly his fault if he's not used to playing in that role. It's like sticking Bernie or Kevin in the goals and saying they're shit
