Poor Doku

Gvardiol had an excellent game so he's the forum's new scapegoat, frustrated by the team's performance.

What's astonishing is that he didn't even play 1/3 of the game, while the likes of KDB and Phil Foden totally missed out even though they were starters. The culture of the moment in football will always amaze me. Doku became Adama Traoré and Gvardiol became Maldini in less than 24 hours.

Let's remember who Doku is. He's a prospect like Gvardiol, programmed to become one of the best players in the world in his position. He's not an established player exactly like Gvardiol, and both came to learn and progress.

Some people should be a little more measured and control their emotions.

In Doku's case, I think he received too much initial hype due to his positive abilities, whilst the failings he demonstrated such as lack of composure and decision-making were ignored or accepted as something which would improve.

He may well learn under Pep's guidance, but having the ability to beat players without having a better end product than he currently demonstrates, will only court frustration and criticism imo.

I personally am frustrated with his performances but accept that the professionals at City may have a completely different opinion of him.

With regards to Gvardiol, I feel that his performances, out of position, have generally been good. Some issues possibly due to being played out of position, but improvements have been coming steadily.

Hence the different comments regarding their respective performances since they arrived at the club.

When he first came it was bums on edge of seat when he got the ball now it's just bum on seat. Bags of skill, fast, can beat a player but Navas/Adame Troure levels of end product, never seems to find a man with a cross, rarely seems to trouble the keeper with a shot. Then again he's new to the league, hopefully he sorts it out, if he does he will be a worldie. I trust he will and see him becoming a fan favourite

To be fair, I had him down as "the forum's new scapegoat" long ago, - and I stand by that.
 
He's incredibly raw. He has played a lot more than we all, and the management probably expected in his first season. At the end of the day he's got some intangibles, that can't be taught (page, creativity, dribbling) but right now his end product is leaving a lot to be desired. Give the lad a break, he will come good. The team system, selections, energy levels etc are more our issues at the moment. We don't have the momentum and aren' playing at the levels of last season at the moment. Doesn't mean it won't just click though.

Obviously I expect clever so and sos to come back after he has a blinder against a Luton.

The Supreme Court Justices don’t wear that ridiculous costume, at least not when they are sitting. I also think (unlike the Court of Appeal) counsel front of them have the option not to be gowned up and to simply wear suits and ties if that is agreed between them, at least that is what a fellow member of this board told me a few weeks ago!

He is 21, in his first season with us. In the equivalent of 13 league games he’s got 2 goals and 5 assists, not that shabby
