Hooliganism and Violence Maine Road 80's/early 90's

I was in the social club, somehow Roy Clarke thought they would be warmly welcomed by city fans

They were until the pint pots started flying

Mounted police ( minus their horses by now ) had to clear them out the side door
I always remember Roy Clarke after we were relegated by Luton. After City had finished fighting the police we went into the social club and that was getting smashed up, Roy Clarke went “leave the telly”, and a lad went “oh yeah the telly” and threw his pot through it

Haha !

Not sure they fared too well in Stockport earlier in the day did they?
Nothing happened in Stockport, they got off the train, wandered up to the armoury roundabout, supposedly looking for the rags, coppers pushed them back down King Street and they were gone. Really big mob, 500 easy, full train, looked impressive but never got to perform in Stockport. They would've smashed the rags all over the gaff if they'd been around, sheer numbers alone would've been too much.
It was supposedly arranged that they would have it with the rags in Stockport and I often wonder where they melted to.

The following season saw them at Blackpool lunch time kick off took my 10 year old nephew in family stand. Very few Millwall there but a massive police presence. I asked a copper I knew about the huge police operation, he said they had intelligence that Man City where coming to fight Millwall. Think this was bollocks like the tale Millwall were coming to the Gillingham play off final to confront us. A rivalry from the 90s which has disappeared over the last 20 years.

Sorry I was being sarcastic. They were mobbed up in Stockport but were pretty much wrapped up so nothing happened of note, came to Maine Rd thinking they would take the piss and they did nothing much there other than getting battered. They didn't fare well all game.

I think I saw a firm of about 40 Millwall on the morning of the playoff final in central London.

It’s disappeared because we haven’t played them in well over 20 years.

If we were to draw them in the cup, particularly up here and they were given a full allocation, I’ll guarantee GMP will be cancelling leave and probably drafting in back up.

lets not start rewriting history.

The curry mile got smashed up by nothing more than City that day.
Millwall got escorted just like they wanted to be.
I was in City's mob that day, and got fucked up by no more than a good session at the Blob shop.
All fucking media bollocks.
Same as down there when Badbuy scored the equaliser.
Kids trying to be noises outside.
Absolute bollocks, all media shite
