the arsenal foul was same phase of play but too far back in play
make it up as go along

I’ve no idea which Arsenal goal you’re talking about. But yeah, I suppose any subjective opinion is making it up as you go along. Although phase of play isn’t the only consideration.

I don’t know what your agenda is on this thread. You basically poo poo anyone’s views if they are against Var. So me a favour and ignore me as I basically stopped reading anything you say on this subject as imo it’s all bollocks

I’m pointing out the reason why the goal wasn’t given, that is all.

but tonight id be ragging if second penalty hadnt been given for us

Not seen the incident but penalty appeal for Brighton not given? Now social media awash that it’s all corrupt and designed for Man City to win the league.
The whole continuous cries of corruption and whinging/whining from every single clubs fans when they don’t get a decision there way is getting beyond tedious.

That's a good article.

'turning the tide is a huge task because you can't expect a club or its fans to have an objective view when they are so invested in every decision' - this is a good point, unfortunately the fan demands are so high now, constantly comparing one scenario to another thanks to social media and screaming 'where's the consistency?!!'' , I can't see fans ever being happy with or without VAR - too many are down the rabbit hole of agendas and conspiracies. sadly.
Footballing governing bodies can only keep trying ways to improve officiating.

Now you're getting it.

That every set of fans think everything's corrupt when they don't like a decision? I've known that for a long time.

As Johnson said in that article I still can't get my head around (what was the point?): "Fans want total consistency, but VAR was never intended to produce this. Maybe it was lost in the message from the start;" (my emphasis) "instead, it has exposed just how many of the game's laws are open to interpretation".

The implementation of VAR has been hopeless and the chickens are coming home to roost. Leaving aside the fact that consistency can be improved with training, if it isn't about total consistency, it shouldn't be about total accuracy either. Fans can rightly ask why a goal for a team can be called back for a mm offside, or a foul in the build-up when a penalty or red card offence isn't corrected for the equivalent minimal event.

Personally, I don't have a problem with "clear and obvious", let the referee and his team referee, and have two, five, ten interventions a year for "howlers". But it should be applied to all interventions. That's probably just me, though.

I think the powers that be will be happy that every fan base thinks it's corrupt, even fans of teams that have benefited enormously from it, its just background noise

I do predict that Forest's card will be well and truly marked now, , should they have spoken up? I don't think so quiet diplomacy might have got them more, most clubs know tis and most clubs including City have had bad experiences with VAR
