On a hiding to nothing. Inflation has been tamed, but that’s about it. Got a decades worth of grief to try to unwind while moving the country forward.
As they say in America, the (Conservatives) fuck everything up while telling you how great it is. (Labour) comes in to fix it and spend the money needed to right the ship. Then, the (Conservatives) complain about all the money being spent fixing their mess and as soon as anything is either not fixed to everyone’s satisfactions (and what ever is?!) or starts to go wrong again because of the economic cycle or factors beyond (Labour’s) control, the (Conservatives) say, “See, we told you!”
It’s a game of trying to balance the seesaw without it hitting the ground on either side, but there’s usually a big fat (Tory) on one side who waits and waits and waits then jumps off and leaves (Labour) to slam to the ground. Even though they are trying hard to balance things, it is often so hard, and takes so much time, that they run out of it before people start to moan about them being no better…and then the big fat (Tory) gets back on the seesaw!
