Only the lease for the New Territories. HK Island and much of Kowloon were not part of the lease but it was considered impractical to separate them from the parts of Hong Kong that was leased so it was all handed over to China. By the Tories.I think it wasn't a case of giving it back, I think the lease ran out!

Yep.Stepped down as she was becoming a distraction. Looks like Labour are getting their act together.
Completely counterproductive for a senior civil servant to become embroiled in political shenanigans. Not sure if any of it was her fault but the fact she became the story was not tenable.
I see she’s been given another role that is not as high profile.
