The Labour Government

That was my thought. Although the MP behaved like a **** and was totally out of order, the suggestion that someone getting into a fight should wait till the other person is ready is a little odd. I’m not saying it’s applicable in this case because the bloke he hit didn’t appear to look threatening, but if you’re in a situation where you’re pretty sure you’re going to get hit you’d get stuck in as quickly as possible or leg it.
There is a case of some antiquity that supports this view, namely R v Palmer, which says someone defending themselves cannot be expected to weigh the threat and the necessary force to defend themselves ‘to a nicety’.

All of seen of the incident is 2 stills. In one he#s facing the other much bigger bloke and swinging at him. In the other he's swinging again when the other fella is on the deck.
Can't see an 'cowardice' in that.

You forgot the old **** option 3, curl up in a ball like a hedgehog.

When should ou smack someone then? After ou've sent them a note or an e-mither??
The violent fat tw*t shouldn't be smacking anybody full stop.

I'm still highlighting the cowardly move he made on the victim. He must be "well hard" sucker punching somebody.

A better outcome would been for the salad dodging twat to control his anger and not use violence at all.

Unrelated to the incident in question but if someone approaches me and I perceive any kind of threat then fuck yeah I’m going to land the first dig.
The victim had his hands in his pockets and didn't look threatening at all. It was a sucker punch from Amesbury.

If somebody genuinley looked threatening then that's a different story.

Grown men shouldn't be using violence anyway.

Like I said, haven’t seen incident so talking generally. If the MP is in the wrong he deserves whatever punishment comes his way.

Grown men have been using violence for millennia, that’s not changing anytime soon.

so someone who uses busses regularly, often not by choice, will incur a 50% rise in their travel costs.... well that seems okay doesn't it? Im sure the same will apply to all the Government ministers who are chauffeured up and down downing street too.... no? Just an increase in claimable travel expenses for them - seems fair.
Can't speak for other areas of the country. The busses in Notts currently have a day cap of £7.60 and encourage people to buy day tickets which are currently £5.40.

And if he was threatened?
Where's the 'sucker punch'?

It's worth noting that as a regular bus user myself - and I'm sure other regular bus users will back me up on this - the price of my weekly ticket went up as soon as the £2 cap came in so regular bus users were actually subsidising the occasional bus users! Now I'm not knocking the £2 cap. It's been great and has probably gotten more people using buses but it seems a little odd that someone who uses a service - any service - regularly should see their prices go up, while those occasional users of the same service see theirs go down.
I agree. I assume the weekly ticket prices and the like are under the control of the bus companies.

Is that why in the case of Southport DJ v Stevie Slip Meister Extraordanaire, Mr Gerrard's testimony that he got his defence in first led to his acquittal? ;)

And the 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th!

The present £2 fare has proved to be popular. But the fact is the funding is coming to an end. The options were to allow the fares to go back to where they otherwise would have been or increase by the amount announced. The increase to £3 per trip, is for me, as a very irregular user of buses, still considerably cheaper than £9 return I paid to a station a couple of years ago. For regular users, students and of course those of pensionable age, there are either discounted period tickets or a free pass. The alternative is a continued subsidy which comes from general taxation.
That wasn't the only options you have made.that up.
