Can't speak for other areas of the country. The busses in Notts currently have a day cap of £7.60 and encourage people to buy day tickets which are currently £5.40.so someone who uses busses regularly, often not by choice, will incur a 50% rise in their travel costs.... well that seems okay doesn't it? Im sure the same will apply to all the Government ministers who are chauffeured up and down downing street too.... no? Just an increase in claimable travel expenses for them - seems fair.

I assume the weekly ticket prices and the like are under the control of the bus companies.It's worth noting that as a regular bus user myself - and I'm sure other regular bus users will back me up on this - the price of my weekly ticket went up as soon as the £2 cap came in so regular bus users were actually subsidising the occasional bus users! Now I'm not knocking the £2 cap. It's been great and has probably gotten more people using buses but it seems a little odd that someone who uses a service - any service - regularly should see their prices go up, while those occasional users of the same service see theirs go down.
Is that why in the case of Southport DJ v Stevie Slip Meister Extraordanaire, Mr Gerrard's testimony that he got his defence in first led to his acquittal? ;)There is a case of some antiquity that supports this view, namely R v Palmer, which says someone defending themselves cannot be expected to weigh the threat and the necessary force to defend themselves ‘to a nicety’.

That wasn't the only options you have made.that up.The present £2 fare has proved to be popular. But the fact is the funding is coming to an end. The options were to allow the fares to go back to where they otherwise would have been or increase by the amount announced. The increase to £3 per trip, is for me, as a very irregular user of buses, still considerably cheaper than £9 return I paid to a station a couple of years ago. For regular users, students and of course those of pensionable age, there are either discounted period tickets or a free pass. The alternative is a continued subsidy which comes from general taxation.
