You’d have thought that if it was a technique issue, that the GK coaches would have spotted it, or train him to read the taker better.

Scoring a penalty is 95% in the mind. That why we have some of the best players around unable to take a decent penalty.

It’s probably in the takers head against Ederson too. They know they’re going to score and it helps clear their heads.

If he saved a couple in a row, I bet he’d save a fair few more too as the takers wouldn’t be as confident.

A psychosematic viscous circle!

There have been may talking points about Ederson over the years, so you stop talking bollocks for a bastard change
It is like digging out the best player i have even seen in blue because he didnt score enough goals , where are these posters when he saves our skin? Penalties are not meant to be saved , the advantage is with the taker and not the keeper

Penalties are not meant to be saved?

There must be some logic in there somewhere but I’m not seeing that, if you mean Ederson is one of the worst at saving penalties in the league then yea you’re right

Then show me the comparisons with other keepers

If a striker missed 32 out of 33 one on ones would you say he is unlucky and the goalkeeper in each scenario did amazingly well or that perhaps he is a poor finisher?
Wild comparison. The striker is in control of the scenario, the keeper isn't.

Depending on the scenario, a 1v1 generally still favours the striker, a penalty heavily favours the striker over the keeper, it's not even slightly comparable.

A fairer comparison would be if a striker took 33 shots from inside his own half, with a keeper in net and failed to score in 32 of the 33 efforts would you be suggesting the striker isn't a good finisher? Or would you accept that the striker has no right to be scoring from there against a keeper in position.

Saw this thread at the top and was surprised. Was even more surprised to see a pile on criticism of him failing to save penalties.

Both were excellently taken last night, but fuck me, Gvardiol and Nunes need a round of the guns for gross stupidity and incompetence. Both were pathetically unnecessary, stupid fouls.

Eddie has been in the main excellent in this recent slump, he has saved us an absolute tanking at Bournemouth and a good few other goals elsewhere.

If we get back to stopping stupid defensive mistakes and ridiculous challenges, as well as big Erl finding his shooting boot’s we’ll be right back in it before long.

I need to see how many been awarded against us, but since he joined 2017 to the current date he has saved 3 in the PL, and I'm sure we'd have conceded a lot more than 3 in 8 seasons
What about the cl ? And comparison with other keepers if you feel like it , given how many saves and one on ones he blocks, sweeping and getting to the ball first , doing his long pass to the fowards and a couple of assists , is more than enough . Picking on pens when it is a very small part of his game seems to me to be picking over nothing

More praise for him wouldnt go amiss

On course in being Player of the Season but it shows what form we are currently in.

No point in talking to the braindeads who infest this forum, they are blind to the abilities this guy brings to the team.

Probably bitter rag imbeciles who think Onana I'd world class!
