Fact. Again anyone of real quality isn't going to move mid-season. We aren't going to suddenly start throwing the cash about. If you are using a Laporte as an example he was meant to have joined that summer but decided to stay at the last minute. Athletic Bilbao decided to sell midway as they were way off the pace in La Liga and were in no danger of being relegated.

I had never heard of him either. But we’ve had no links to a CB and I really want us to get one. Unless Pep and coaches really think Simpson-Pusey can help.

I think it’s just as important as CDM in January and we need one of each to still compete this season. And it’s not just a short term fix the right player in both of these positions would fit in with the rebuild that’s needed and will be happening in the summer

Hope we go after a defender in January as well. Means Rico can play more in midfield and covers the injuries of Ake/Akanji/Stones.

Think we need 3 at a minimum.

A 6 has been obvious for some time
A CB since Ake/ Stones/ Akanji all seem to injury prone

And I think we need a midfielder/ forward who can press like Julian Alvarez. We've sorely missed someone pressing like a complete madman possessed.. and even though no one mentions it.. for the 2 seasons he was here.. our press was the best in the world.

He was a total pest too like Sadio Mane.. sure Salah got the headlines for the dippers but Mane would be rushing back there to help out in defense and getting the ball back one second and then spearheading the attack the next. We need someone like that.. (Sadly I wish we had kept Julian but it is what it is.. we need a like for like replacement)

Fact is stretching it but we tend not to go too deep in the January market. Besides that who did we actually went for last summer who had initally turned us down that might want to join us now and won't cost us too much? Pep may have found a temporary solution with Grealish. That does saves us rushing into this coming short transfer window.

I don’t think he has a position. I see him a bit like Gomez playing easy cup games etc. he’s a utility man isn’t he in that he can do a job but only when the rest of the team is firing. If we are relying on him I don’t think he’s quite good enough. Shame because he seems to have a great attitude.
