"The club might not want any weakening of that bond."

Totally agree with that but loyalty can also come back to bite you hard as we have seen in the last month.
I don’t think that the loyalty is necessarily the problem. More worrying has been poor squad development. We’ve bought two incompatible players, allowed quality to leave, and seen the age gulf between young players and old players widen. That has also happened against the preference for a small squad. Even if we win the League from here, Viana has his work cut out, and there will have to be a reappraisal about how we operate.

Not sure we will buy a rb in January, I think that will happen in the summer.
Most of our transfers will be in the summer we may bring 1 in in January 2 at a stretch, probably nobody leaves . Thinking different is transfer thread fantasies.

At least 1 midfielder but I wouldn’t be surprised if we bought it someone like Juma Bah at CB because none of our defenders can stay fit. The repots that we want to sign 2 midfielders are interesting, I think 2 in Jan would be a statement but unlikely.

We’ll leave RB and second striker till summer. Kev replacement too and whatever else we need

I’d keep both. World class on their day and hugely experienced as well. We’d have to spend 60/70m to replace one

On their day is the problem. Stones comes back for a game and he’s injured again , same with Ake, they were injury prone , but not this bad , they’ve got worse with age with their injury issues. Plus both play internationals. Stone is world class but the questions is when he is fit which is rare.

Ake is the best 1v1 defender at the club but it’s no good being that when you can’t play or stay fit

Issak and Bruno 150m, plus Nunes and Mcatee. I know swap deals barley happen however one can live in hope.

Newcastles need to sell to buy will means them shipping out aging deadweight like trippier and almiron and getting in cheap replacements not selling their star players.

There's not a chance in hell Newcastle give a single seconds thought to selling Bruno in January. He and Isak are untouchable for them, they cannot be sold. Horses would be getting punched across the north east if they contemplated it.

I would have said 2 MF but if Grealish keeps producing like Wednesday, one may be ok.

We desperately need a RB and CB for me.
If we get at least one high quality defensive midfielder in January, I think it will be enough...

Oscar Bobb will return, KDB had great game and hopefully will continue so.
Grealish has played well on LCM position and hopefully Pep will use him more there.
Phil will return back without any doubt..

Like.. let's imagine we had Rodri back, then most of our problems would be solved.

That's why I think that high quality defensive midfielder will be enough, even though I would love us to buy high quality RB as well..

We aren't buying a RB in January while we still have Walker.

The club won't do that, they will wait until the summer to move him on then buy one.

Pep will see that we have 3 options at RB (Akanji, Walker, Lewis) currently.

We definitely need a CB in January, Ake and Stones always being injured leaves us with Gvardiol, Dias and Akanji as the only fit options for 3 spots.

Then we have to buy another CB in the summer, and that RB as well. Maybe even a LB.

Defense is the biggest need for reinforcement.

I'm not as convinced as before - Tonali has come back from his ban looking pretty decent & they may feel they can play him and use the Bruno money to strengthen elsewhere. I'm not that fussed about Bruno, but he's a huge upgrade on what we currently have

Might be easier to find a right-back or left-back than a centre-back. After all, Guardiola has played Walker at centre-back 30 times, including in important games, so bringing in another full-back (or two) might free Walker and Gvardiol to move inside and cover Ake/Stones/Akanji.

Why , Walker is done and if we could bring in a replacement I could see him going, if we pay him off, maybe Sheffield?

Walker is done as a top player in any position.
Saved yourself a Christmas Card stamp, I see. ;-)

Lot of football to be played and I'm not writing off anything or anyone yet. People have been tossing Grealish into the garbage these last few weeks, only to be raking in the bin on Thursday morning, and Walker likewise still has something to offer us.

We said that last season and he never really got better. We won the PL because Pep eventually went back to the 4 CBs, Rodri was on fire and Foden was in the form of his life. I'm not disrespecting Walker but I don't see him becoming like his pre-30 self again for the rest of his City career.
