PL charge City for alleged breaches of financial rules

Conjectures upon conjectures.
We won the treble after the charges were announced.
If anything, that was the season we should have been impacted by the charges.
What’s happening now is just psychological.
We will get over it at some point.
For now though, let’s enjoy the ride and thanks to the fans who organised the tifo yesterday.

Or it could be that City gambled so they could show record profits, profits for 5 years on the trot, that their business acumen, is vastly better than those that accuse.
Of all the possibilities that is the one i believe the most, and if we qualify for CL I reckon it was worth the gamble.
You'll end up with a Ban being positive on here.

Has to be.
But Sheikh Mansour (and CFG) is still making huge long-term investments in Manchester with the new stand, hotel, and the major housing plans for Holt Town. Also doing something similar in New York City. This shows that the overall project is not slowing down. The biggest issue on player investment is that no one wants to breach the PL PSR rules. Those rules have crippled Newcastle and are devastating the PL. But we also have to stick to those rules while they still exist. City would have made a loss without our transfer deals last year.

United posted a £113m loss this year but they spent £220m on players. Had they not spent £113m of that £220m on players then they would have broken even. They're cheating then basically!

Look at the league net spend table and we're 11th, Crystal Palace have spent more net on players. Chelsea's net spend for the last 5 years is £750m! How many trophies have they all won? And we're the cheats?

What a load of absolute bollocks.

I think board didn't want to invest in the team after City won a treble due to these charges. They want to see the verdict before investing money again. That's why two latest season it has been big downgrade in the squad (Laporte, Mahrez, Alvarez out) without signing proper replacements.
But why then would the same board spend Millions extending the stadium?

Someone should send this post to Simon Jordan. He always uses us an example of reckless spending, I even heard him comparing us to "drunken sailors" once. Funnily enough, Chelsea always seem to get a free pass from him.

I was listening to a podcast recently and Ian Cheeseman said he’d heard whispers but can’t comment until reports are verified,

…it sounds to me like this is related to the charges, I would imagine that the players have heard things too and wonder if this is related to our drop (off the nearest cliff) in form??

We have been under investigation for years, yet managed to win 6 out of the last 7 league titles, the treble, and the first ever four-peat. No, the players are not affected by the alleged breaches.

Excellent reasoning, you have successfully destroyed my argument, I bow to your superior intelligence!

The drop off in form is pretty obviously due to players being out, players having to play while not 100%, players having to cover the wrong position, and players having to play too many matches.

There's a mental element added when you're in a rut, but the underlying cause is pretty clear, and it's not the charges causing those issues.

Speculation is to be expected considering we haven't just "Fell off" we appear to be in a nose dive we can't get out of and with the quality we have on the pitch even with the injuries we have had we have been appalling.

I don't believe it's because of the charges although IF (And it isn't) it was at least it would give fans some comfort.

To be fair you didn't really make an argument apart from someone saying they heard whispers on a podcast. Might as well read tea leaves.

The way we are going we'll be wearing red and being grateful for a league cup final :)
