Agree. His kicking wasnt good but he had no out ball and when it was passed back it was a shitty pass to his right foot with an attacker closing him down. Made a great save from the header and was commanding on aerial balls.

I do think he wants to leave but I also think he's far from the problem right now.

Why are Ortega and Ederson conceding the same goals? Same goalie errors or a shit midfield and backline that doesn't press and is slow as shit? Our goalies are facing one on ones every fucking week
I think they are all part of the problem. No one is playing well. Even Dias who was given MOTM on Sunday wasn’t flawless.

I went to recount, i have to apologize. It's actually 1 in the last 35. Of the last 35 penalties he's faced, 34 penalties went in, 1 was saved

I have sympathy for keepers saving pens. They have to decide which way to move as the player is running to kick it. It’s very fortunate if you go the right way more often than not.

I would always rather be the keeper than the taker

Still our first choice for the rest of the season. Ortega hasn't convinced me he is, even with Ederson's patchy form. Next season is a different situation but that is not down to his ability.

He has fitted us perfectly for years , everyone has lost confidence but he has been making saves this season but the defence woes is stopping him from playing as usual

He is not the problem
What his is usual apart from the end of the 2023 season he’s never really been a consistent good shot stopper he’s always average or below in save percentage even in situations where we was much stronger side and teams was only having 1 or 2 shots on target a game

He's been that good of a goalkeeper over the years that he's changed how goalkeepers play.

He's changed the role of what a goalkeeper can be. Not just a shot stopper.

They all want to be like him now. All trying to be good passers of the ball and cool under pressure.

And if you think that's easy, look how many fuck things up often.

Doesn't get anywhere near the credit he deserves. He's been bloody brilliant!

Donut thief showed how GK with saving prowess can actually affect team positively. You still need saves to save you in critical moments and saves still is critical part of game. few here don’t want to accept that making saves is part of GK games always has been always will be.You can be elite passer but if you are average shot stopper it will hurt

De Gea was so good....that the rags got rid of him for a keeper who they wanted to play like Ederson.

If he is then we are dropping a clanger because sure as hell he is going in the summer and then we are fuck Ortega about so he will leave and then we are in a position where we have to buy 2 top keepers .

Eddie will not be sold through us wanting him out but he won’t stay either .

Looks like a player who has lost the fire and isn't really that bothered..... and he's in such an important role we can't afford him to be like this

Maybe the Saudi money turned his head, maybe it's because he's won it all, or maybe its because those infront are so out of form they are offering him no outlets

Either way, his passing has been wayward & predictable and when his passing is like that his shot stopping/decision making gets exposed

The club need to plan for his departure, whether its this summer or in a future summer because I can't see him staying TOO long

Yes. Eddie’s been revolutionary and very much part of what Pep’s about: innovative, attractive football. Average shot stopping plus world class distribution plus a touch of madness and a decent defence in front of him = entertaining footballer who’s pretty effective on balance.

Against that, his penalty saving record is dire. You just know they will score.

He was actually playing quite well earlier this season but has indeed looked a bit shit recently, like everyone else. We are no longer playing attractive football and are committing howlers all over the pitch. He isn’t covering himself with glory but neither is he the main cause of our woes.

How many penalty kicks is a goalkeeper expected to make ?

No, im pretty sure that Neuer was the one who started that change.Ederson maybe got his passing to a higher lvl than him , but overall he isnt close to Neuers abilitys as a goalkeeper.
