there is no such thing as crime of passion to be factored into this, it doesnt exist. And the fact that it is domestic violence only adds to the culpability, not diminish it. How anyone could think it would is staggering

Has to be, there can be no mitigating circumstances - even a guilty plea here carries no weight in my mind.

Will they have or even choose to pursue the rape case (for which he pleads not guilty) if he gets a whole life order

He's already admitted it. Not really sure there is anything to defend.

They may try to enter into evidence the fact that he had mental health involvement and struggled to adapt to civilian life.

"Crime of passion" would be a moronic argument because he used a hunting weapon and a knife. He didn't just flip.

And also because of the rape charge he is due to stand trial for.
