I'd feel lost too if I had to watch Foden, Bernardo and Gundo get thrown into the midfield week after week while I'm competing for minutes on the wing with Doku. There's still a good player there, but Pep seems to have coached the creativity out of him by marooning him out on the wing and keeping him pinned on the touch line. As much as I don't want him to go yet, he's going to be one of those cases where he's sold to a rival and will tear it up when given freedom to actually play his preferred position.
I like Jack and have defended him for what he has done for us. He can still be a part of our squad too as he brings different skills to the melting pot that we need at times.

It does feel like his City journey might be coming to an end, but until it does, I’ll continue to support him.

If he's still here next season, he should have a big role in the middle if we start moving on from the older guard there.

Pep coached everything out of him.
What part of shite crossing and shooting is Peps fault.
Would it be better in the middle.
This is all down to Jack's form nothing else.

Even comparing his form to some others who have played in midfield this season, he's among the better performers there. What our midfield is missing is pretty much what made him stand out when Villa came back up to the PL.

Like everything else form wise with Jack we have to go back seasons ago.Everything when he was good was years ago.
On his best season with us there was no talk of moving him into the centre.
Think of his form now.
The way he is playing sadly he is not the answer to our wide or centre midfield problems.

Tottenham loan written all over with an option to buy, they are desperate for players and once Bobb is fully fit and Doku that leaves Grealish 5th or 6th choice in the wide area.

I wish these Grealish lovers would stop disrespecting Pep Guardiola. Pep is literally the greatest coach ever, and they say he coached the magic out of Jack Grealish? Jack Grealish imo is a big fish small pond type player. He looked good in a relegation battling villa. He’s just not as good as KDB, Bernardo, Gundogan, Mahrez and Foden. Those are the 5 players he was competing with at City, and sadly he’s not on their level. When he signed I thought we were getting A Young Hazard/Pires level player, he is not that. He has incredible close control and is great at winning free kicks under pressure but that’s it. Poor crosser and through balls, and his shooting is really bad. I heard someone once he’s like playing Busquets on the left of a front 3

If Jack is fit and ready for a proper work rate,
he offers an option that is good to have as it's different to Savinho and Doku and it has proven in the treble season.

When we need control and also defensive qualities vs top sides e.g. CL semis/final Jack would be the man - if he is near his best.

Doku offers next to no defensive contribution but can play his game mainly in home matches and vs mid table sides.

Savinho did offer good defensive contribution but forgot that in the following match. And he's leightweight. Both wouldn't survive a semi at Metropolitano.

Problem with Jack is, and Pep said so too, we don't know if we get the former version of Jack back.
If not, we surely would be able to find an upgrade.
I would love to see him fight though and show more energy and determination. He doesn't even need to score, we never needed his goals to win.

That's like saying Walker is an option because he was amazing during the 100 point season.

Sadly the drop off in Grealish is real whether we like it or not and Pep doesn't get paid to be a fan.. he gets paid to make difficult decisions about now, this moment and the upcoming games.

Yep now it’s a problem when someone leaves because he wants to leave. He has to stay despite getting called shit and bad and past his prime.
You can't win with some here, they keep moving the post. It's one thing or the other. If he wants to play then he's entitled and should make way for the youth and if he decides to sit comfortably on the bench then he's a disgrace, interestingly it's not the same for 12 games a season Stones or dry spell Jack

A significant amount of his problem appears to be psychological and it's frustrating that the best manager in the world and all the resources of the club can't overcome impostor syndrome or complacency or self-doubt or fear of failure or fear of injury or whatever it is that's going on.

Of course it's on the player too, but (and I understand those who disagree with this) I don't get the impression that he's taking the piss, that he's loving everything as it is and doesn't want it to change. I think he's probably even more frustrated than the fans at how things are going right now.

I'll always support any player that's trying but struggling.

I don’t really buy the “Pep ruined him” bullshit but I do hope he sticks around long enough that we see him under a new coach in 2027. He’ll still only be 31 and I could see a different coach getting more out of him in midfield.

And if not we’ll finally be able to definitively say it wasn’t Pep!

I don't think Pep's ruined him. Tbh I don't think he's ruined. Just having a bad time.

Pep quite rightly prioritises the performance of the team over the career of one player and I will never disagree with that. Pep's responsibility is the success of Manchester City and he can't and won't jeopardise that for anything.

But I don't think it's unreasonable to suggest that maybe there's something more that Pep or the club could be doing to get the most out of some individual players.

He doesn't have to change his lineups or tactics but as a people-manager it's part of your job to keep everyone engaged, motivated and believing that they have something to contribute and that their contribution is valued. That's harder with some employees than others and there's always something that even the most adept manager can learn to do in that regard.

Jack's an adult and responsible for his own attitude and feelings but more than anything he seems to lack confidence and belief in himself and that clearly negatively impacts his game. It should be something that the manager and the enormous pool of staff who exist for the benefit of the players' wellbeing can help him work out.

We don't know what's going on behind the scenes or who's trying what but the truth is that our most expensive player ever looks miserable, tentative and uncertain and that seems to be directly impacting his ability to do his job.

It’s ridiculous isn’t it.

The mistake was signing him.

How many great players have to say Pep is the greatest coach before some fans will believe it ?
