Hooliganism and Violence Maine Road 80's/early 90's

Did you get your money back?
Same thing happened to me at an Etihad game with Southampton ... parked up on a side street near Ashburys, and came back after the match to a smashed passenger side window, and radio and minature City kit gone ... it was raining too, and we'd lost the game 1-3!

Definitely not the best day i could have had.

Was in the north stand on the Leeds game if it’s when Brian dean equalised real late on? lots of Leeds fans jumped up celebrating, big mistake!! it went off big time
This was after they went one up, was being shown on Granada/Yorkshire TV live. Strachan scored and Leeds jumped up in the North Stand, City piled down from the back of North Stand and Leeds clambered over the fencing

A very fitting goodbye to Maine Road on and off the field that day, they had Hibs with them also , the Hibs lads knew a Rangers lad and said no matter how Utd try to spin it they got done .
Always the same tale off rags when they get battered City had help from Rangers, Bolton, Leeds, take your pick. The Hibs CCS seem to have a problem with City for some strange reason have turned up with United and Oldham in the past.

Always thought the Oldham/Hibs alliance was all down to plenty of lads in the FYC looking like the Proclaimers

Happened to me vs Hull one midweek game, smashed my window I was parked opposite Quinny crescent, on Alexandra Park side, but the police caught the scrote actually in my car, they left me a note to go to Platt Lane police station. I got there after the game and the little t*at was there with his parents crying his eyes out, pleading his innocence. The youth was ordered to pay me back a quid a week to cover the cost of the window, one time they did our kids window, and he had gone to the match straight from night school at North Trafford College, they laid his course notes out across Alexander Park in neat rows, it was pissing it down, so all ruined……fuckin shit stains one and all

A quid a week? Fucking joke...

Bring Back Swales created an interesting debate among my mates. He mentioned Newcastle thrashing the Clarence which they never did but he saw a mob leaving the area with glass splattered around. I think now what he saw was the attack by Boro who turned up late a caught a few outside. City backed off into the rear room at the Pub and this is where I think they put a window in at the front. They certainly didn't get inside and trash the place. Newcastle and also Chelsea turned up but only a skirmish outside and Chelsea got chased to Maine Road. Of all the mobs that came I think that a lot of people rate Boro highly.

When Boro turned up it was hard not to rate them, game as and stuck together, loads of incidents with them, few of us ended up in their escort by the park once, kicked off by Oxford Rd,they were stunned, the mob that came up claremont rd by the sherwood that time was good too, oĺd bill cleared city away as both faced up,was it the cup game when they came down Oxford Rd and City were in mcnallys?that was a wild day,got on the waste ground to confront them and seriously underestimated their numbers, massive mob came round the corner! They talk highly of us as well.

I remember thet Scottish firm turning up at Maine Road when we’d been at it all day with Boro , Hibs and Oldham got friendly after Oldham got a battering in Edinburgh , few Hibs were with Utd at the lost Dene a couple of seasons ago and got battered off boro , I believe Hibs said there not being Utds punch bags anymore, told off an Oldham lad at work .

Think Newcastle turned up pretty early about 2000 - I also seem to remember they turned over the Clarence but there weren’t many City around at the point. Keegan’s City drew them the next year and I believe a pretty big mob went up in retaliation, IIRC the windows in one of their main pubs were put through.

A few of their runners got collared near a car park Back Piccadilly/Dale St later on.

Two huge mobs of City that day.

Talking of Scottish firms, and this is a bit random ...was talking to a lad in a pub few months back who said he used to run Motherwells firm back in the 80s/90s iirc. I think he said Motherwell..

Distinctive looks ,of Asian decent ,and he looked the part tbf. he freely admitted he grew up as a youngster in Motherwell and took several beatings as a young lad due to his ethnicity....he learned to confront his attackers and got into the football, where he quickly progressed through the ranks ,to the top as it were , even being called upon,he said, by other top firms to help out against common enemies who visited Scotland. He did say his name but I was pissed....

Anyone know of this lad ?

They turned up but didn't turn over the Clarence. Regarding a return, two lots went up. two or maybe three Coaches went to Chester Le Street. After a booze most got the Rattler to Newcastle. Right off and into the Pub right across the road. A few of there lads in there who we told to go tell their mob City were here. Nothing happened and City walked to the ground on the way a couple of Pubs closed their doors and one had a window put through but not sure if it was their main Pub. City stood on the corner behind there end for a bit but Newcastle didn't show so they went in. A second lot went to Whitley Bay and had a run in and came out on top in the Haymarket area when they got off the Metro.
