The van rebounded off the tram and hit the girl. Those junctions off Moseley street have seen numerous incidents with cars/vans not giving way to oncoming trams and sadly it's now resulted in a death.

Yes it is scary round there, some drivers think that a Red light doesn’t apply to them.

Awful to read. To make it worse, the van driver got out of his van and ran away from the incident (don’t know if he’s been caught yet).
 
From Saturday 1 March, until the end of service on Sunday 16 March, work will take place on the Metrolink lines at York Street, Manchester City Centre.

During this time, no trams will be able to operate from St Peter's Square to Market Street/Piccadilly Gardens.

All stops will remain open during these works however some customers may have to change trams or take a short walk to reach their usual stop [see 'Map and walking route' for further details below].

Ashton-under-Lyne services will operate to Victoria, calling at Piccadilly, Piccadilly Gardens, Market Street and Shudehill en-route.

Other cross-city services will divert via Exchange Square.

Tram services will resume their normal service pattern from Monday 17 March.

Transport for Greater Manchester (TfGM) bosses say they will ‘do everything we can to keep impacts of those works to a minimum’.

“We are trying to avoid key events where possible and we will [consider] putting alternative provision in place,” said Chris Barnes, TfGM’s network director for infrastructure, on Thursday (February 27).

So two 50000 plus events in those 2 weeks is them trying to avoid disruption???
 
Try their journey planner, it is rubbish.

Navigation road to Etihad, it sends you via Victoria which is fair enough. Press for the return journey and it has you walking from the Gardens to St. Peter’s Square which is bloody useless for anybody with walking difficulties.

It is about time that prat in the Mayors office got to grips with this organisation.

Well we have done better than the Rags this time as they have 3 fixtures to our 2.

It gives the quickest route. If you press ‘add a stop’ and put in Via Victoria, it’ll give you the times for Etihad- Victoria- Navigation Road.
