Thats not a valid reason to sub out the CDM so often, is it? Why disrupt our rhythm in build up and core.

The attacking subs, while also making us worse, I get, because we are trying for a different dynamic up top to score.
You said “he never did it in the past”

He had players he actually trusted to play the role previously

I don’t know about that Savinho was wanted all over Europe even Barca and Madrid wanted him and he put up very good numbers in La liga for Girona. I think it’s the tactics or what Pep wants wingers to do. I don’t think us scoring from the wings even changes if we had Vini and Rodrygo.
i think it would ,because the chances have been there several times ,but their shooting form has been really poor

I'd trust Fern now and Rodri on crutches over Kovacic as a 6, yellow card or not they were creating nothing before that sub, and the risk with Kova at DM is higher than the risk with Nico on a yellow.

Agree with everything except dropping Haaland, he didn't drop him, he had an injury against Newcastle when he should've been subbed 30 minutes earlier.
I am in favour of letting haaland rest, that's why i wanted us to go get a striker in the winter. I am confused why we ended up getting someone who can really only play as a second striker, it just doesn't fit out squad or setup.

Our wins against Chelsea, Newcastle and Spurs have all come with Marmoush starting as a second striker with Haaland, maybe he should stick with that set up.

Feeling like your manager hasn't got a clue how to make his side perform is rough. we've been lucky to not have to have this feeling for the good part of a decade now, but this season he just has no answers. no answers on how to make his players preform to their abilities, let alone greater than the sum of their parts. No idea on what tactical tweaks he needs to make, who should play, what kind of football we want to play. The transfers have been panicky and without a clear plan in mind. You feel like you've turned a page with a couple of good performances but it goes nowhere, because the next week the players go back to looking like they've never played a game of football in their lives. You think that at some point it'd dawn on everyone where the players excel, and then its back to square one next week.

You try nunes left wing. nope, that doesn't work. how about right back? he looks okay. then dropped for a month. suddenly he's back to right back again. signing a striker so we can rest haaland. no, he can't play striker, my bad. we'll drop haaland and play savio or phil as false 9. Oh, that didn't work. nevermind. we sign a DM. let's not play him as a DM. let's sub him out for kovacic and lose control of the game. Just weird decision after weird decision after weird decision that conveys like he doesn't know. he's throwing whatever he's got out there. The feeling of omnipotence, like he's always 3 steps ahead of everyone playing 3d chess is completely gone, he's back down to earth not really understanding how to solve this sport of 22 men kicking a ball about.

for the first time in forever the manager, has to be said, has been a net negative on the side. We are preforming slightly worse than what this side can on paper.
Well said

He can’t stick with it for some reason. He probably thinks tactics but it’s stupid. We’re out of two competitions and there’s now a week in between matches. There’s no excuse. Play the lineups that work. Again it’s that simple.

Atm this season we have been coached terrible . When pep gets it right he is lauded as one of the greats and rightly so but he also needs to take flak for his bad decisions aswell .
My issue is this year I can’t think of a game he won us with a tactical decision or clever piece of in game management.

He's had an absolute stinker of a season lets be honest. His decisions of whom to keep, the style of play, his in game tactics and general vibe have all been off and other teams have our cards marked. It feels like our style of play is no longer working or suitable. However, he gets a pass this season but he should still be questioned. He's got next season to get us sorted but the board should never let a manager be so influential on in coming out outgoings but I think the new guy replacing txiki is a changing of the guard in that respect..

If this was his first season I'd want it to be his last. (And no, it's nothing like his actual first season)

If Pep were in charge of Forest he'd set them up like prime Barca and they'd be languishing in the bottom half.
If he were in charge of Arsenal they'd be nearer Liverpool than they are.
This is the Pep conundrum.
Can't manage average players. Great with good ones. In fact the best.

Going more direct against Chelsea’s high line worked pretty well
Newcastle and Spurs were relatively high too. Doesn’t work against the low block. Those 3 teams tactics were suicidal against us. They were probably over confident. Spurs could easily have drawn that game though. We were dross second half.

I hate how that first season gets weaponized as a comparison to this season.

We were not even that bad in that season, the only 2 defeats that stood out as being poor was the 4-2 loss away to Leicester who were the current champions and the 4-0 loss to Everton away. The other defeats were against Spurs, Chelsea home and away(they won the league that year) and Liverpool away(we never win there anyway).

We were coming off the back of 2 unsuccessful seasons in regards to league title charges anyway, had a group of players whom had never played Pep-football before and in general we had a few ageing players and squad members who were never going to be able to work under Pep

Yet we still had 12 more points than the season prior (78), scored 80 goals, and still lost less games than we have this season (6). We can't even get 78 points this season I don't think, and we are doing this with a team that has played Pep football for a number of years and has won the lot and got an immeasurable amount of experience gained from doing it.

I trust Pep over everybody to get us back this summer and next year, he is the best coach we have had and will ever have, but it doesn't take away from the fact that this season - whilst some blame has to be put on the players - has been an absolute coaching disaster-class from Pep at times this season. From squad preparation, tactics and setup, over sentimentality to legend players and not fully adapting to his squad frailties.

Like I said though, he is the man going forward.

Pep needs his golden boys taken off him this summer so he can’t put his faith in them any longer! He’s seems to have lost his ruthless streak to be honest and has gone back to his favourites rather than the hungry guys desperate to impress.
