Oasis reunion

I love threads like this.
They show up that peculiarly British, and wholly unlikeable, trait of being contrary and obtuse for the sake of it. As if it somehow validates one’s own feeling of self worth.
You can predict it like the phases of the moon. A group of people contribute to a thread to celebrate the reunion of the biggest British rock band for generations, happily post how happy they are at the news, and generally just celebrate a wonderful piece of news, and as sure as eggs is eggs, the thread is quickly hijacked by the ‘too cool for school’ crowd.

“Oasis are shit”, “not what they were” etc etc.

It doesn’t make you look nuanced and sophisticated. It makes you look like a miserable ****.
This is the post of the decade! Applies to so many threads. Epic.

Unbelievable atmosphere last night - that many people in attendance and from what I could tell, a totally friendly crowd with everyone there having a great time.

All credit to everyone involved, loads of booze and no dickheads. Didn’t read of any arrests either.

And no political shit was a breath of fresh air given all the nonsense virtue signalling at Glastonbury.

Why bring Glastonbury into it? Glastonbury was fucking brilliant this year.

Because last night was about the music and the atmosphere and people being together whereas Glastonbury felt like it was all about the politics and the headlines which lead to people being divided.

Politics has no place in music or sport (this is my opinion, I’m aware that many will not agree with this).

Fair opinion, but both can work imo. I went sam fender other week, he spoke out in support of Palestine, I felt that was a positive and it didn’t dampen the mood or ruin the gig. Same for those at Glastonbury.

Did you go to Glastonbury this year?

You’ll never get rid of it fully from the arts and rightly so. Agree about sport though.

Any thread on Kinkladze is the footballing equivalent. Like night follows day, as soon as people start taking pleasure reminiscing about watching him play and how much they idolised him others are desperate to pop the balloon and spout nonsense about it was his fault we got relegated etc just to deflate people’s joy.

I saw them at Maine Road in 96. I say I saw them but I was that shit faced I can’t remember a fucking thing of it. In fact when we left O’Shea’s having had several pints of Kilkennys I said we’d walk as it’s a doddle to find as I’d been going years. Got totally fucking lost on Alexandra Park Estate and had to flag a taxi down!!

I haven’t touched Kilkenny since. Dangerous stuff that shit.

And that's the difference. Glastonbury is a festival of contemporary arts and can not be compared to a pop concert in Heaton Park.
There is a lot of media hoo hah regarding Kneecap and Bob Vylan. But they were just 2 acts on one stage, out of thousands of acts on God knows how many stages.
How the poster tried to portray the festival is not a true reflection of my experience from this year.
There will be more people arrested at these Oasis gigs than there was at Glastonbury. Which is remarkable considering there are 250k people on site and it runs 24/7 from the Thursday.
Now if the poster compared it to Parklife, where people were getting arrested with machetes, then fair enough. But Glastonbury is one of the greatest places to be, where everyone is happy and just wants to party.

That’s the 96 oasis vibe
Before it became a lads only thing
Now it’s back to women and men, young and old all singing every word
Best way to be

They sound like the ‘it means more’ Scouse lot

My lad went last night and had front standing too. Made up he got to finally see them. He has always been a fan no doubt after listening to them when a baby when I was blasting them out! Massive Noel fan and has been everywhere watching the HFB. Got a couple of HFB/Noel Tats.

He loved it. Said they were brilliant and the crowd were friendly. No trouble that he could see.
