Russian invasion of Ukraine

So apparently Putin is currently doing a speech about a red line if the U.S. or NATO countries strike Russia with even a conventional weapon/missile they will retaliate with nuclear Armageddon or words to that effect.

My cousin just phoned me so not seen the speech myself.

Excellent. Shows they're losing. More please.

As Putin gets increasingly desperate then he's going to try whatever he can to distract.

It's only going to get worse for them. The fuel crisis will lead to food shortages and more inflation. Desperate people will do desperate things. Something will happen in Russia soon.
I think so. From the outset I thought the best way to deal with Russia was to collapse their economy. Could be heading that way hopefully.

I've been thinking since about six months in that there's no way they can sustain their losses.

Thus far, I've been wrong!

I fear and suspect they've been backed up by China,India, Korea and others and are able to sustain these huge losses. the same talk about how they are financially ruined, have depleted military equipment and will collapse etc has been going on for years now.

These are taking russia to the cleaners, they're getting oil at an insane discount with russia barely making a penny. An economy like russias just doesn't go under they're using all kinds of financial manipulation and to fudge figures. It is getting more and more evident they are in deep shit even their own media are starting to report on it. Infact the only thing keeping them afloat is having a war economy but if they no longer have fuel to continue the war it all comes crashing down.

Im sure they are still hiring merc's from anywhere they can and India/China has a lot of poor people willing to risk it for a payday.

They've definitely been propped up by China and Korea vs equipment. India seem to be just opportunistic on oil AFAICT.

But the sheer level of manpower losses you'd think wouldn't be sustainable.

Current Russian birthrate is only 1.2 million https://www.themoscowtimes.com/2025/04/14/russias-birth-rate-plunges-to-200-year-low-a88709 so I guess 600,000 males per year.

Russian losses killed and wounded are something like 200,000 per year, with large uncertainty.

It can't carry on at this rate, surely?

The arrest of Russians flying drones off Shadow Fleet tankers by the French Military is absolutely huge.
I wonder whether this will get buried by the western media?

Has it been proven that it was the source of the drones? I've seen lots of suggestions but nothing conclusive.

Hopefully just a software fix on the Patriot side to take into consideration the new trajectory paths.
American weapon designers must be loving this, all their equipment is been tested in real time scenarios, making improvements etc to make them better whilst getting a shit load of money, war is good for business

I said last year that US arms manufacturers must be shitting their pants
The US was and still is, sending Ukraine old tech and it is absolutely mullering everything the ruSSians have, but sadly Ukraine just doesn’t have enough of it. Bradley IFV’s tearing the ruSSian T90 tank apart and F16’s with the help of an AIRWAX shooting down a supposedly far superior SU aircraft are examples
Why would the Pentagon continue to invest in more R & D and even higher tech at billions of dollars, when what they have is already proven to be far more than adequate

The two things that are missing are
1/ A cheap way of shooting down drones
The Germans have the Gepard anti aircraft system and also the Skynex system. But the Americans only seem to have million dollar missiles

2/ A cheap way to counter sea drones
