Got into a meeting at work today early and we ended up talking about Bellingham.
White Manager, married to a Jamaican. Thinks Bellingham is a prick, so does his wife.
White Woman who doesn't really follow football, thinks Bellingham is a prick.
Nigerian lad who is mad about football but unfortunately a rag. Thinks Bellingham is a prick.
French guy, think he's Algerian descent. Yep, clean sweep. Prick.
So I can conclusively say, in our limited but varied social group, we all think he's a prick. A talented prick for sure, but not one that England should be taking to a world cup praying he'll have that magic touch, at the cost of squad harmony. Unless he shows change. But he'll go, no doubt.
I like Ian Wright. He's funny and charismatic, without bending to the wind like Carragher and Neville. I thought his response on Aluko was mature and respectful. I heard at one point we were after him to pair with Niall Quinn, just imagine! But on this, he's not correct. Sometimes a spade is a spade, no matter the appearance, the cost or the prestige.
A bit of humbleness, and passing to Phil, would be the start if he really want to change my mind.
