Metrolink to / from Etihad

Are you a regular tram user to and from the games?
To the game from town, yes. After the game, walk back into town to catch tram home from Pic/Market St/ Shudehill.
Its straightforward , and I get some fans have longer journeys.

As an away fan , getting away from Anfield/ Goodison/ United/ Spurs /Leeds/West Ham etc etc. has never been easy, its not just an Etihad issue. I was in Liverpool last week with an Evertonian mate, who who took me to the Hill Dickenson on a non match day. Its further out from Lime St than City is from Piccadilly. about a 40+ minute work. The nearest small Merseyrail station, Sandhills, is about a mile from the from the new ground and has similar long queues after the game. Should be fun.

Good post except my post was about getting to the ground. I also presume you didn't see that I posted I get the bus back from the match.
Perhaps you think it's a good idea to walk 20 minutes to the Met , change at Cornbrook, get off at Piccadilly and walk 25 minutes to the ground ?
That might be OK but again, the point I originally made was about stopping for 15 minutes simply because trams couldn't get into the sidings.
That isn't just one tram, the whole network is affected because trams get backed up queueing. That also means you could be stopped mid station unable to get out and walk.

And yes, people are pissed off with the poor transport infrastructure and will think about avoiding night matches.
Im not with you. Your 20 minute walk to your nearest Met stop cant be helped . I didn't suggest walking to the ground from Pic. You can get the tram direct to the ground from Cornbrook, Deansgate or St Peters SQ . I understand there's the odd log jam , but generally speaking its not too bad going to the game.

I gave up reading at "pretty good bus system" Try waiting for one after a game in the pissing rain.

Some right wind up cunts on BM.
I said a ' pretty good bus service' on Ashton New Road providing designated express match services to outer areas. One of my kids uses a Wythenshawe/ Timperley ( not sure which one )bus to get home to West Didsbury. He swears by it. .
Where do you live that's so hard to get to ? And less of the **** talk.

You seem to be missing the point a little. Your personal travel circumstances seem to be fine but it's not all about you I'm sorry to say. There is an abundance of less mobile fans than yourself who rely on the tram for the match, so walking into town after isn't an option for them. More to the point the general gripe is the all round service pre and post match. It's unreliable at times, and inadequate a lot of the time. I totally agree with you though that getting to, and away from especially, most grounds is a pain.
A few more trams before and after with a slightly increased frequency is all most users are asking for.

Some people would moan for the sake of fukin moaning. If you CAN walk walk you lazy bstards
I presume you haven't bothered reading the earlier posts.
Why should the biggest City outside of London have such a crap service ?
Why should we just accept our shitty lot and not moan.
Why should we be minions doffing our cap to the overlords, accepting our shitty place in society. ?

I wonder which unsafe cattle truck I will be crammed into today when I go to the game.

'People have stopped attending night matches because the Met is so poor.' Really ? Its not not that hard to get to and from the ground. Its a 25 minute easy walk back to Piccadilly , thousands do it after every game. There's also a pretty good bus system from Ashton New Road , outside the ground, that provides express services to more outlying areas of Greater Manchester. Im second guessing that those who get a tram back into town are the regulars who leave 10-15 minutes early and cant see a whole game out . Getting to the ground is pretty easy from St Peters Sq giving yourself 25-30 minutes before k.o. Best avoid Pic or Pic Gardens at that time.
No big football ground is a joy to get out of , whatever the mode of transport.
I see people quoted 40quid for a black cab into town. Jesus. Walk it

Yes it's shit mate needs sorting not disagreeing with that. Unfortunately success breeds contempt . . . and shit transport

Walking from ground to picadilly really aint a big one. Pick up a head of steam and can power there in 25mins. Ok?
It isn't a 25 minute walk and after a game you can't pick up a head of steam

It wasn't until I had my knee operation that I noticed how many blokes going to and coming away from the ground have limps/walking issues

Ashton under lyne using Ashton New Road

It’s not difficult to get home it’s the time and crammed conditions that are the issue in my case especially after I used to drive it in 15 minutes until the city council stopped free parking near the old abattoir .
Waiting for buses for 25 minutes then 45 minutes to travel are a joke . Trams ? I’ve given up on those as they can be a long wait and dangerously rammed .

I’d agree. It can be walked, and I often do, especially if it’s not raining. I even part jog it afterwards sometimes, if there’s a train to be caught. But the point is, I shouldn’t have to. That shouldn’t be the default, and I won’t always be mobile enough to do that, and not everyone is.

Google describes it as 30 minutes but you can do it in 25 minutes. I do. I walk as fast as I can.

I think the critical comments are directed towards able-bodied people who are queueing and paying for service that runs every 12 minutes only to get off in town. That is daft. That is the way to get limps and walking issues.

Piccadilly Station or Gardens makes a difference. Victoria is a lot longer.
