A huge number of documents are exchanged by the parties that are responsive to various searches - times, words, custodians. Those documents are then reviewed by each party for them to cherry pick those that are relevant and support or undermine the case. The hearing itself, takes the panel through the key documents and puts them to witnesses. By the end of the hearing, a proportion of the hearing bundle (thousands of documents on a digital platform) are referred to in closings and the evidence heard. The panel will write up its decision with reference to those documents.
