PL charge City for alleged breaches of financial rules

Does the club realise how this is effecting fans who have to put up with derogatory stories about our club also the slagging off on social media all sticking the knife with daily comments we will always be known as cheats and with this dragging on for so long which in itself is absolutely disgraceful this witch-hunt against this great club needs to end soon. It’s also a huge slant on all the great players who have played and still playing for City certainly don’t deserve this black mark on their careers, I hope when it is over the owners stand up for all connected to the club because we have to live with the outcome forever the owners can just sell up and forget while the fans are here forever.
I suppose there's a small silver-lining to be had that due to the length of time this is taking, should no charges be brought against us nobody can claim with a straight face that the matter was hastily overlooked or brushed under the carpet because we're a wealthy club. Small consolation I know, but something to bear in mind for when the inevitable pile-on happens (whichever way the verdict lands).

Precisely this. It’s fucking me right off. You can’t read a single story about City anywhere without the comments section being full of “115” and “cheats” bollocks. Yes we should rise above it and take no notice but it’s 3 years now and it’s draining and tiresome. Probably exactly what the red cartel wants.

A very good mate of mine won’t let it drop. He’s well-adjusted, amenable, chilled out, intelligent… we went out for a meal not long ago as he was passing through Birmingham and had a good old natter and catch up about life in general. But when the subject of City comes up it’s like Jekyll and Hyde - you can feel the bile from the other end of the chat group. He is so convinced we are cheats and guilty and deserve the book being thrown at us. Every loss or draw, he’s crowing in our Whatsapp group. Even when I was complaining about Solanke’s first goal at the weekend being a foul, the response was “City have unashamedly and blatantly broken FFP rules for years so it’s only fair really.” I mean, where do you even start?

I’m at the stage now where I don’t care if we’re guilty as sin, I just want it over with.

When it was posted that our top brass were skipping around shortly after it had finished, I was confident that we would be fine. I don't believe in coincidents and when some of the top officials from certain clubs suddenly left, I was more convinced about it.

Sorry to burst your bubble but none of this is true. I think you are confusing the hearing with the Arsenal game in 2024 (the one where Rodri got injured) when one of their execs left in a huff at the end.

I don't think anyone would dispute that the way the charges were originally framed (115 charges !!!!!), and publicly rolled-out (City unaware, but leaked to Times journalist) the media baying for blood, wild speculation around punishments - was all deliberately planned by an hateful and hostile EPL. Every step was weaponised for maximum reputational damage to our club, no doubt in the hope of driving Pep away and degrading our recent successes. They failed miserably as we dropped a treble and achieved an unprecedented 4-in-a-row, but did succeed in damaging the club's reputation.
The process was always part of the punishment and it's no coincidence that the dark cloud hanging over us has been there for THREE YEARS and is still not resolved. They are utter conniving, underhand bastards and the club and fans have had to put up with this shit for this long. When we are exonerated (I haven't a shred of doubt over that) then a few heads will roll at Premier League and life will go on, but what they've tried to do to City is unforgivable.

No. He's referring to Tim Lewis resigning from Arsenal (who was the exec you mention) and Levy exiting Spurs.

You need to put him straight mate. I did that with a Villa-supporting customer on the phone the other week. He's actually pretty complimentary about our team normally and the topic of the charges had never previously come up but it did this time and he said "Let's have it right here - of course you've done it". By the time I'd finished lecturing him, I think he wished he hadn't brought it up!

This is spot on. I simply can't believe that if the charges had substance, that any half-competent lawyer would have allowed them to include the Mancini stuff, 10 years after the arrangement had ended. Or anything to do with Etihad, etc., following the CAS hearing. It stinks of pure desperation.

What's this about our execs skipping around after the hearing?
Well I assume they were happy it went well. As I've said, I heard that the PL came out of it badly, and that's part of the reason for the delay in releasing the outcome. I'm pretty confident that the panel know what that outcome is, and have done for a while.
