PL charge City for alleged breaches of financial rules

There’s a chance I’ll bump into Harris this week. Why is it he is so obsessed by this and looks to push a one-sided and usually deliberately false narrative?

We have had this discussion before, I think? Wasn't he used by the club at some point but it soured for some reason and since then he has gone off the deep end, probably not helped by his family problems? May be misremembering ....

What year was you on?
We was on in 1986. My school was Castlebrook high and our "celebrity " was Eddie kidd who took about 5 or 6 takes to pronounce our name.
I just remember cheggers being absolutely wired, stinking of fags and bouncing about like a loon.
Ha brilliant. Sounds about right.

I’m guessing 1979. We represented our local youth club which I think was Davyhulme. Sailor were the live band…I waved to the lead singer and he waved back.

We were given torches to shine at the camera and CPP t shirts, both of which we had to give back at the end of the show! I remember we won and there were rumours we had got through to the next round but nothing came of it.

I also remember feeling sorry for Keith. He ran on our bus before we set off back home and screamed “who wants an autograph?” Dead silent. He looked upset but said thanks for coming then ran back off.

Another World!

Has Keith ever denied the accusations against him? He posts are from the Trump playbook. Ignore all questions and just plough on with your one point over and over and over until you beat people into submission.

It's an interesting story, which I've told before. The club decided to modify its approach to the media and built closer relationships with a few serious journalists. Harris, as Mail on Sunday sports editor and being pretty decent on the financial side of things, was one of those. I used to share stuff with him and him with me, very amicably.

But for some reason he underwent a complete volte face and turned on the club, me and others. It was so bad that at one point a few of us were seriously looking at a private prosecution for harassment. Gary James was another person he was extremely abusive to. This was around 2019-2020 and was very stressful for all involved. I know that his wife became ill (and has since sadly died), he'd been ditched by the Mail and I suspect he was having a difficult time. Possibly that all contributed but there may be a more sinister reason.

Delaney I think, was another one. But you could actually plot his change of tone to the week between winning the league at Brighton in 2019 and the FA Cup Final against Watford. And of course it was as the post-match Final press conference that Rob Harris asked his shocking question to Pep about under-the-table payments. I was told by a senior source at the club that it was a coordinated campaign by some clubs and that there was a "geopolitical element".

Khaldoon's comment of something like "We know what they're saying about us" definitely adds fuel to that particular fire.

It does my head in. I just want a logical explanation — why do they think they can win? It doesn’t make sense.
Depends on how you define "winning" no?

It's certainly possible that they've already achieved their primary goal in charging City, and don't care so much about the actual arbitration finding.

Well, the process is the punishment. I’m not a big fan of conspiracy theories, and it would be unbelievable if the league pulled something like that on one of its own members. On the other hand, how UEFA handled the FFP case in 2014 is well documented — sometimes reality really is stranger than fiction.

We ought to get together in a glass of champagne…

The reputational damage has indeed already been done. And people still wonder how we play the best football and don’t always fill the stadium - this is a big part of it

If you see Harris this week, give him a pasting for me (do you see what I did there)
