Let's hope they're the right kind of 6,600 Americans as 16,500 millionaires left the UK in 2025 due to rising taxation and changes to residency rules. Reported as the largest known exodus of High Net Worth individuals.

I’ve no idea mate. It’s just bad that they feel the need to go. My nephew has built a Company from scratch (having gone bankrupt once when in his early twenties) he’s worked his bollocks off and employs 50+ people in the NW. He can only visit the UK now for 90 days/per year. He’s got children and wants to leave them something. Of course there are parasites, the undeserving etc amongst those that’s left - but you need people who are driven, will get off their arse, work like stink, putting their personal assets at risk etc. He was born in a council house. It’s not a “trade” he created it.

I emigrated 20 years ago but all of my uk assets were sold which means someone bought them. People have emigrated in & out for eternity & always will it’s just now it’s become a sound bite for those leaving.

Its so fucking obvious that American owned clubs are running the pl and are operating to different rules then non American clubs..

People will always dispute things they don’t like or don’t want to acknowledge. I’d imagine “taxjustice.net” are not without bias.
The overwhelming consensus seems clear that it happened. That also fits my limited lived experience.

16500 looks a big number but it is only 1% of UK based millionaires

No mate, it’s much worse than that. I know three families living near me who’ve fucked off to Dubai (not a place that would attract me)
I had a local builder do £30k-worth for me recently. A real grafter and building his Company - he was in utter despair about tax/bureaucracy. Not just him - but his team of five all felt the same way. Anger off the scale.
My son who’s a “HENRY” is just the same. He’s in the 65% marginal tax rate bracket - another real grafter but getting more resentful by the day, questioning whether it’s worth it. Thank fuck I’ve retired now, though I still pay a healthy sum in tax. If I was younger I’d be definitely looking at emigrating !
