Why would we have an 18 man squad?

Good thing we have the likes of Silva, Aguero, Yaya to help him out if he joins.

OK. I'll be sure to tell Txiki.

Im surprised youre not aware, but in the champions league and premier league you are only allowed 17 foreign players in your squad of 25.

With Milner, Clichy and Lampard going, only Joe Hart is home grown.

That means youll have a first team squad of 18 players, and the rest of the other 7 youll need to fill with young english players from the under 21's and reserves.

Good luck facing Bayern Munich again, when you start bringing on your reserves against them, im sure theyll be quaking in their boots.

2 or 3 injuries and youll struggle to even fill the bench, let alone have many tactical options.

they wouldn't legally have to accept it in pennies as the maximum amount under the 1974 act is 20p in pennies, it would have to be pound coins which legally they would have to accept.

pedantic comment over.

Sort of right, but as I understand it, they don't have to accept it as part of a transaction. They only have to accept it if it's the settlement of a debt.
But if they signed the deal before knowing how we'd pay, it'd then be a debt! and checkmate to City!

I was fairly specific in saying "decent," and I think Spurs overpaid immensely because they knew everyone knew they had coin burning a hole in their pocket, just like Liverpool after Suarez (Fonte for £20M+?!)

I presume you mean Lovren.

Let's just say that for £50M, we SHOULD be coming away from the table with more than Sterling and a £6-8M per year contract liability! My guess is that if he was French, he would be a £15M buy and Wenger would have him already! But, because he is English and will fill one hole for the next decade, we MIGHT be willing to waaaaay overpay for him. Football, sadly, is not just about buying the best players for the job anymore!

He's being brought in because the people in charge think he will improve the team. If he was French I suspect we'd be willing to pay about the same as we're prepared to pay now. Time will tell whether their judgement of his value to the team is more accurate than yours.

Gerrard on Sterling:

Difference between Raheem and Jordan is their ambition and their talent Stevie.

When you think about it... either Gerrard has contacted the media all the way from LA (appalling) or he's accepted a call from the media when asked to comment on it, and chosen to stir things (equally appalling).
There really is no positive side to it.

Really can't understand how this hasn't gone through yet.

It's obvious the lad wants us and we want him. If we really want him, especially if we want him in top condition, we need to get him out of that toxic atmosphere sharpish.

Cunning and sly?

We have bid for a player in the same way any club has!

For cunning and sly see Liverpool and Milner!

The Milner thing resonated with me, no doubt pools tapping up of the player when we were trying to tie him to a new deal won't be mentioned much but for me it was pretty evident given the speed of the transfer following the close season.

If I'm being honest, I'm hoping our pursuit of sterling was in some way payback for pool over Milner....I would be delighted if we walked away at this stage

WTF? Fernando over Fernandinho? Crazy talk!! :-)

We all know 4-2-3-1 is City's best formation, but who are the 2 and 3, and which one Yaya deserves to be in, are questions that need answers! I think Pogba is part of the 2 with Fernandinho, with Yaya in the middle of the 3 and Silva and Nasri either side of him. Throw in Sterling and we now have Nasri under pressure. Throw in De Bruyne, and we have some serious options in the 2-3 department, which is EXACTLY where Pelle needs strength in depth, as Mourinho proved last season.

We need a settled back 4 to sit behind and clean up messes and then we need to let 5 WORLD CLASS players do what they do best. Aguero up top picks himself every game he is fit, and most games he is only half fit, with Bony coming in to assist when needed and to replace more frequently when Sergio is tiring.

So, who plays second center half? MDM, Mangala, or Denayer (if he signs!!!).

Starting to get an itch that may need scratching before Aug 10th!
... and their stats don't even add up properly.

How fitting :)...event for Liverpool with all their 'istory!!

The problem with putting a price on a player is that it's so subjective.

50m to us, who can afford it, isn't the same as 50m to Liverpool. If he improves us, and we make 60m back from our improvements, he'll have been worth it to US.
If I'm a billionaire and I'm happy to pay £1000.00 to jump the queue for an ice cream, people will deem it extravagant and over priced, but what does it really matter? I got my ice cream, I got it before you, and I'm still wealthy.

I would imagine it was normal media duties.

Hopefully this circus will end soon.

Amazingly when THIS player (as good as he is) was up to his antics, ex-Liverpool pros were out to defend him, or at the very least weren't criticising his decision to seek success elsewhere. One rule for one player, and...

And this was a confirmed racist, complete diver and serial biter?
