De Bruyne?

The Bundesliga is a league full of pace, counter attacks and physical demands. It's pretty much a league full of lower mid-bottom table PL teams that are looking to scrap for a point or looking to nick all 3 when they are playing against anyone but Bayern. He will be more than prepared to play in the PL(again if you want to call it). He made a few clever runs against Arsenal, picked out some great passes and showed he could help us with corners, he did look a little rusty shooting though.
Tbh if he can take a corner he is worth £40m plus to us!

If the reported 40mil bid is true, lets hope things start moving quickly...hoping these negotiations dont drag on as would be great to have him ready for week 1 of the season....I dont know whats going on behind closed doors but in my opinion, I could see this being our last signing of the window, with maybe one more player getting sold(Dzeko)

I agree with earlier posts. Until Jovetic goes or Dzeko we won't see DeBruyne in.
Hoping all goes smoothly for Jovetic transfer.

Roma need to stop dicking about with regards to Dzeko as well. I reckon he'll still be here come the end of the window. As for De Bruyne, I hope that deal doesn't drag until the final days of the window, we need him here asap.

Aaaargh Kolorov is crap.

I wouldn't want him to hear me say that 'cos I know he's a softy and might shed a tear but truth's cruel sometimes. (Not because he scares me)
All this talk of LB being the problem position.

Last season Pellegrini dropped Zabaleta when he was going to be faced with someone half decent, preferring Sagna.

Why aren't there constant calls for an RB?

If both Edin and Stevan leave we will have two foreign places up for grabs with De Bruyne looking a possibility for one.

I can't see us not filling that other foreign spot with a top class central midfielder.

I will be annoyed if we fill it with a striker because it will mean 4-4-2 and Iheanacho playing more EDS games than senior games.

Dzeko, Jovetic out and KDB and a top class LB in and I'd be really happy with this window.

How many times have we "launched" this bid now?

The gist of the article is that Begiristain spent the weekend in discussions with Wolfburg and De Bruyne's agent when they were over in London for the Arsenal game. It seems that if a formal bid is made it will not be a million miles away from what Wolfsburg will accept as a fee and want De Bruyne wants in personal terms. Not like the situation when we made the initial bid for Sterling.

Yes please. Replace Sagna. Another not at the required level. :-)

Personally I think signing Sagna was a terrible bit of business like signing Maicon and even Caballero (some might argue on this as Joe's back to his best now). But why sign a player (granted he was free) to fill a void who for me isn't at the required level we need? Furthermore, he's just sat there eating up a foreign place in the squad collecting £120,000 a week for training? Fuck that get Maffeo in. Let him be understudy to Zaba. If Zaba gets injured play Denayer there unless we are certain Maffeo can do it. Same with LB now. A glaring weakness however both players have been great servants to us and did improve when they signed. Get Kolarov out not because I don't like him but because to bring Angelino (who I rate highly) through we need to offload 1 player for each of these positions. Now with Pogba's impending wait surely we must be looking at someone better than Zucculini as a potential replacement? I like Garcia, bring him in next season and I think that'll be great for us but what about now? We can't cement a serious title challenge with the midfield we have ATM IMO.

People say Roma are dicking about so does that mean we are dicking about with stuff as well?

Roma just want a fair deal for a moody and inconsistent player, we just want a fair deal for a player who didn't make it last time he was in the Prem. Neither are dicking about.

Roma are about to spend over £20m on Salah and are set to sell Romagnoli for over €26m, they have the money and we should rightly sell a player who'd score 30 goals a season in that league for a fair price.

Because Zaba was struggling with fitness and his form dipped. That was all that we up with him. He was sorted from about February onwards and played pretty much every minute in the run-in, Sagna was nowhere to be seen, I forget he played for us come May.

LBs can be good or shite and you can toss a coin for either player from one week to the next which it will be who is playing and another on how good they'll be. Kolarov can be MOTM one week and be telling the crowd to fuck off and have a mare the week after or 'rested'. Clichy can have 90% pass completion one week then do absolutely nothing with the ball or forget where he is on the pitch and allows someone to sneak in back post for a goal the week after or 'rested'.

Zaba is a cracking player still.

Zaba is 30 though and his best years are behind him and next season I would hope that signing two fast, fit, good defending, good attacking, 23-25 year old left and right backs is our priority.

He'll only score 30 goals if he's in the mood though. I think it's quite an obvious and apparent flaw to his game that he can sulk with the best of them. He makes Anelka look like Micah Richards at times.

When I went past the private hospital in Wilmslow this morning there was a guy in a grey hoodie sat on the wall looking at his watch - hurry up Jovetic it's raining and we don't want our new boy catching a sniffle!
