That's very true.they were at home,
they had a chance to go top,
we had no silva and no aguero.
i totally agree with everyone who says united are piss poor,
the most expensive team ever, or whatever the stat is, it doesn't matter,
they decided to kill the game from the off,
not one shot on target at home in the first half.
there's only one reason why this was the worst derby ever and that's their "philosophy"...
bore the oppostion to death and try to nick one while we are asleep.
fuck 'em!
I am talking about City now and going forward, not 5 or 6 years agoAbout 5 or 6 years ago in a bloody awful 0-0 at our place then?
I'm loving the revisionism on here today, in various threads.
For months and months, until today Infact, Manuel has been lambasted for "only having one style of play", and "being too gung Ho in his approach" , "unable to close a game out" , "a half decent team would have destroyed us today" , "he players saved him" (I love that one...it's their job! ) etc etc.
We go today to the second best team in the league, at their home ground, missing the two best players in the country, with the leagues best defender just coming back from a month out and grind out a truly impressive draw and guess what ...?
"We should have gone for them today" , "they were there for the taking" , he was "too scared of them".
It used to piss me off when people tried to score points like this with the last manager, now we have people doing it to our latest manager.
City and United are the two best teams in the country and will finish 1st and 2nd this season. In that order. Largely because of days like today. Amd for That we have the manager to thank. Again.
Well played Manuel.

If we add Aguero, and Silva we can be defensively strong and be a threat on the counter. The better teams we have played in the Champions League at home have all offered an attacking threat and that was missing for much of our game yesterday - obviously in part due to missing players, and also because Utd are set up defensively too."too gung ho" etc. is usually trotted out after a champions league game (myself included), well how we played in this match was maybe a blueprint for how we should play in the champions league, particularly away from home?
The issue I have with 'The missing players' is that all teams suffer a similar fate during a season which is why we have squads. Yes we are stronger with Aguero and Silva, but as I keep saying surely we should be able to adequately replace them whilst keeping a similar formation with the squad we have.If we add Aguero, and Silva we can be defensively strong and be a threat on the counter. Yaya needs legs around him and little in the way of defensive responsibility. He should only be played in a midfield 3 alongside players who have the box to box energy he lacks. He's obviously not getting any younger and needs protecting and his role needs to be redefined just like Juve did with Pirlo..
He's still a special talent but I've felt for a long time that we're not playing to his strengths in many matches because of where he's told to play and the job he's asked to do in a formation that doesn't suit him and which exposes he weaknesses. No wonder he gets frustrated at the criticism he gets, play to his strengths and I reckon we'll get another 2 top class seasons out of him.
Today The Tactical Turtle ensured that neither KDB, Sterling nor Yaya had any space or time to become effective. We needed to up the tempo and get our quick passing possession game going which was made all the more difficult with the absences of Nasri and Silva. This is how we've combated high pressure tactics before but the lack of those creative possession based players today meant we neither had the energy nor our normal level of controlled possession to combat ManUre's high pressing rugby tactics.
Hence, I've rarely seen us play so many long balls thus continuously conceding possession in a match before. All said and done because we lacked our normal level of creativity and endeavour we replaced it with an effective defensive game plan which brought us home a precious point which could be invaluable come the end of the season.
That's how you win the league, sometimes you've got to go and grind one out, I'd be happy with similar performances at klanfield, Chelski and at Arsenal, we always go to these grounds with the attitude that were better than them and it rarely comes off, off course I'd like us to win every game with style but that doesn't always fit the bill.
A very below par weakened city went top of the league yesterday, a defeat would of left a very sour taste to this coming week, mp was critised heavily in the post match shite thread for selecting otamendi, he was justified and some.
Well done blues, we'll show em what's what at our gaff.
We were also without Nasri who has for years deputised for Silva very well when Silva has been out (though rarely have they played as well together - I think because Silva gets the majority of the ball). The issue I have with 'The missing players' is that all teams suffer a similar fate during a season which is why we have squads. As someone pointed out yesterday, 12 months ago Aguero and Silva both played away against ManUre and we were beaten 4-2. If anything yesterday highlighted not only the need for good players, but the tactical nous to get the most out of them and equally to get the most out of the more challenging games.
Defending is as much of an art as attacking and all the great teams in history excelled at both.
lots of teeth gnashing going over our performance yesterday, if that had been chelsea it would have been hailed a mourniho masterclass
we had a plan to not lose and it worked to a tee, of course we would have liked a more attacking aspect to our game but i feel pellegrini had looked at turtles modus operandi and last seasons result and adjusted the way we would counteract it to suit
