Arsenal post match thread

We give ordinary teams a chance, and better teams several chances. There's a millstone round the neck of the team at the moment and it's costing points each game! Apart from the second half at Spurs, but then we generally became surrender monkeys at that one, there hasn't been a team that has given us the runaround. We haven't been totally outplayed by anything that borders on the spectacular. An ordinary season and we are not rising to the rather modest challenge.

Think we played well until a moment of magic from theo which made the defence loose their confidence and then from their we leaked chances, first goal today was very important and unfortunately we didn't get it

Arsenal looked SO MUCH fitter than us. SO MUCH stronger. Not the first time. last season was the same. Did Silva play ?

You wont see Silva if the ball is not played into the right areas, were not moving the ball quickly enough and getting over run in midfield, i worry for Leicester i really do

I never thought i'd be saying that 4 months ago?

Our mentality worries me. We are ridiculously fragile mentally against top end teams. When do we ever do a number on them, never. Mancini won some not all but some. Pelle can't win an argument. He is charming and hard to dislike but he can't cut butter with a hot knife let alone mustard. The sooner he's gone the better in afraid. We just don't win big games anymore and that's what wins titles. Despite it I still fancy us over the remainder of the season but in a year where given the circumstances we should wrap it up with 3 or 4 games left we'll probably end up scraping it by a point or goal difference last day. Right now we are pathtic.

Shame this was Aguero's first match back, it showed a little. Got done by a decent strike and that set the tone really.
Not terrible and play like that until the end of the season with added sharp Aguero we will be reet.

Sergio fucked so had to come off.

We need a couple of goals to get something out if the game, so why the fuck does the manager bring on fucking Bony again when a bit of movement from Kelechi would have provided far more of a threat?

Thought we were unlucky to not get a penalty decision. Marriner kept his cards in his pocket for the most part which benefited City but I also thought he let Arsenal off on a lot of fouls. The penalties weren't necessarily clear decisions, but there were fouls outside the box I was shocked he didn't give.

Just saw the stats and Arsenal were only called for 5 fouls which really underpins this point.

I've taken an interest in this over the last season and a half and I think we are not getting a fair crack when it comes to free kicks and cards. We seem to kop for every challenge that goes in and refs seem to look upon it as a foul, and we get the straight yellow where I've seen some opposition players time and again get the talking to!

they scored a world class and then we did , our centre back f*cked up , there centre backs did not , that was the difference in the game , posters coming on here saying we didnt play well are wide of the mark , and are taking the biased bollocks that carragher and henry spewed after the game seriously . If we play like that for the rest of the season , and we do not pick Mangala , then we will win the league , because the goons are'nt any great shakes and Vardy and Mahrez r will not last the pace , keep the faith blues , vinny will be back for xmas :)

I think we played well and didn't take our chances, much better performance as compared to stoke or Spurs away. I am quite optimistic, couple of wins and and a long overdue slip from the Leader.... we are back in the game.

West Ham, Stoke and Arsenal all scored 2 goals against us from their first 2 shots in the match. And Liverpool scored 2 goals from just 1 shot. What the fuck is going on??

Not stale, but he's second guessed himself too much this season. Too many half and half team selections. Should've played KDB/Silva/Navas behind Raheem with Toure and Dinho in a midfield two.

It's all gonna be moot come the summer, but it's disappointing that he's going out trying to compromise for the sake of results.

If that setup today was a compromise then he doesn't deserve good results as it was really fucking stupid. Genuinely odd and dumb to set up like that and it's totally his own fault. Delph left wing? Silva and Aguero up front? Really?!? So weird.

Yep, case in point, Silvas yellow. ramseys no yellow and does sterling ever get awarded free kicks?

We have certainly played poorly at times this season but I didn't think tonight was one of those times. We weren't at our best but against a good team at home playing about as well as they can we were a bit unlucky not to get a draw.

Be careful , giving a concise and true reflection on the game , will disappoint the f*cking drama queens on here.

This.
I've been critical of us this season but tonight Arse weren't that great and the difference was Mangala.
However I don't share your confidence regarding the rest of the season.

I think we tend to rely on individuals to come up with the individual magic. Sergio, KdB, Silva, Sterling can all pull out the sort of stuff that Walcott did tonight, but the Arse, like other teams, don't rely on individuals. It's a team game and we don't operate as a unit, and haven't done for some time. When yer see a starting eleven grinding out results against good teams then yer know they're pulling together.
