Well, as we haven't signed him and haven't put up ticket prices as a result, I wouldn't worry about it just yet. If we did sign him however and could sell 70,000 tickets for every game then I suspect ticket prices might rise simply due to demand.

It's the biggest concern for me with City at the moment.

Everything is going great from a football perspective, beyond our wildest dreams not so long ago, but I really fear of what's going to happen to our match crowd over the coming years. The rate and scale of ticket and season ticket price rises will be central to that.

Think we're long overdue a freeze on renewals as it is. The rags have had theirs frozen for circa 4 years now, and they have precisely the same direct debit instalment option for payment as well.

Really fear where we're going in that respect, to be honest. But I'll try not to derail this thread with my anxieties.

No they don't (unless it's just changed), they use some rip off external company called Zebra Finance for the DD option. I had a quick look but they seem to hide their interest rate away. Ours is 10 month interest free, unique as far as I'm aware.

Apparently City are a set of wankers - £299 for a season ticket!

No, they definitely do. I can't find a link for their pdf file but I used it last time this discussion came up. Exactly the same as our direct debit scheme, interest free payment once every 10 months.

They've also just announced they're set to have season ticket prices frozen for a 5th consecutive year next season:

I'd be very surprised if we had a freeze this summer. And we used to deride the scum for shitting on their support for the £.

And they do, but we're just as bad now, if not becoming worse.

And repeat. Zzzzzz

If he does come, it'll only take a defeat to someone like Stoke and two games without a goal and some on here will be saying he was a waste of money and calling for the EDS lads to get a game.

Messi will want to retire in Argentina surely, so if we spend such a huge sum of money we might expect to have him for what, 3 years until he's 32? He's 29 in June.

Can we recoup the expense in that time from him being here? Or does the money not really matter?

If I was making the decisions at Barca, I'd be heavily leaning to selling him as now is the time to cash in if they need money to reinvest. They have an ageing squad in other positions that need to be addressed.
Why would Messi want to retire in Argentina? He never played in Argentina, he's been at Barcelona since he was 13. Moreover why should anyone pay £200m to release from contract plus £1m/wk wages for a 29 year old is beyond me.

You can buy 6 really good players or 2 Neymars with that money. As the article already says Barcelona can cope without him, so can any club.

Totally wrong thread so apologies mods but -

You seem to be the expert on United season tickets (although it's a shame you can't find this proof) so I'll give you that, however:

1. Perhaps their freeze is because a) they were too dear in the first place, b) they're crap and not worth what they charge, c) have they not struggled to sell them in recent seasons?
2. How many £299 & £380 (?) season tickets out of the 72,000 (?) seats do they sell?

Let's not forget the mandatory cup schemes, and season tickets being suspended if you don't comply:

According to tbe Mirror, Messi stated tonight tbe he will finish his career at Barcelona. Apparently he has no wish to leave Barcelona or play in tbe PL.

Saying that, it was in tbe Mirror.
