Media bias against City

Generally I am happy that these prejudiced, ignorant, ill educated idiots don't write much about us in their muck raking, lie filled comics as the nonsense they spout puts me off my Rice Krispies.

As for the TV...

I form my own opinion about the match and don't need their (or anyone else's opinions).

Like I said though, United's abject home form is clearly the bigger story, judging by tomorrow's back pages. Our straightforward victory is of little interest to anyone other than us.

Observer sport today has 2/3 back page with Looney pic and Scholesy telling us how boring the game was. Turn the page to see a lovely double page piece and another granny shagger pic. Opening para' for match report begins,

'Apparently anything can happen in the FA cup. With due respect to Sheffield United, who played extremely well and deserved a replay, nothing happened here until Depay won a penalty in stoppage time.'

Hmmm?

OK, still keeping score of the BBC Gossip Column stories. I've been keeping a note of how many times the following clubs get mentions in that column as it takes stories from all over the media. Our score is more remarkable given the fact that we're possibly getting the most sought after manager in world football - fuck knows what the Rag score would be if they were getting Guardiola. Anyway, since 1 Nov 15:

Rags - 309
Chelsea - 262 (approx 60 were about Mourinho)
Arsenal - 164
Liverpool - 161
City - 127

I worked for a fairly big publication a couple of years back and any transfer story involving Spurs I was told to change it to Arsenal. Any player linked to City I was instructed to change to United. The number of additional hits makes it worthwhile for the site. Unfortunately it then turns a half-truth into a lie.

I was also watching the soccer Saturday morons and when the report came in that Aguero had scored for City it was reported in such a bland manner it sounded like a tap in, whereas if wooney had scored it, like you say, I'm not sure the summariser would have been able to compose himself

Spot on. I saw that on soccer saturday and looked at the BBC sport website a few minutes later. It was being reported there as a wonderful messi-type goal.

And there we have it, for those who debunk the notion that there's no media agenda against us in favour of the so-called "big clubs". Someone who was on the inside (and I know LT) telling you how it worked.

Yep I think we all know now it's about clicks not real news.

So it's not an agenda against us per se. It's an agenda against every team other than United, Arsenal and Liverpool?

I think there's two sides to it. The other side of bigging up teams like the rags and Arsenal is that a story doing us down plays just as well as a positive story about the rags.

The other side is that I think there is something of an agenda against us specifically as we're a relatively easy target, with the owners, the money, etc, etc. However it's difficult to distinguish between the two.

So you know somebody, within the media, who is actively working against the interests of Manchester City. I am disgusted.

The number of stories doesn't tell the whole picture. City stories are almost always negative and dismissive, those of the other teams are very often which "top talents" they are going to buy.
