I consider that Joe's blunder as Joe shouldn't have passed it to Fernando, with Zlatan just lurking close to him.

It was Fernando's error as a professional footballer couldn't control a simple pass from the keeper. Any other player and they would have passed it back or to the fullbacks.

I don't remember Caballero coming outside his area to act as "sweeper/keeper", but from memory I can remember Gunn doing it on four occasions.

Perhaps due to the fact that we were more dominant second half territorially so the need to sweep was more prominent.

God help us if our players can't receive a ball, control and pass with the nearest opponent 6 yards away.

Let's not kid ourselves and say that Fernando couldn't control a simple pass. I'm not saying Fernando is fault free either. But it wasn't a matter of not being able to control the pass but he never expected to receive a pass with Zlatan near him. The logical thing to do is to pass to Otamendi. I don't want to argue more about this, it was done in great detail already in the blunder thread back then haha.

Are we seriously dragging up this utter utter dogshit again. Am I mistaken, isn't part of peps philos not playing out from the back? So he's slaughtered when he does cos said player can't trap n pass or he's slaughtered when he kicks long losing possession in the process. With all this abuse I'm coming to the conclusion that joe has been caught dipping his wick in the wives and daughters of Manchester, thank fuck I live elsewhere

A lot of people misunderstood me. Joe Hart is my fav no.1 keeper in the whole world. I would be very happy if Pep chooses him. I just don't think Pep will. It's as simple as that.

In that instance he couldn't control a simple pass, no kidding involved.

He showed for the ball on the edge of the box, why wouldn't he expect it if he was looking for it?

As pointed out before Zlatan was six yards away when Hart played it.

Would you being wrong have anything to do with not wanting to argue?

Jesus, I was hoping that we'd never have to revisit that goal after the constant going round in circles last time.

I don't want to argue because I don't want to derail the thread any longer and have the mods come here. We can go back and forth all night long but you're not going to convince me that it wasn't Joe's fault and vice versa, so why bother? Hart had so many options to pass to. He could've passed it right or left or boot it up the field but he chose the most dangerous option. If me being 'wrong' is what you're looking for here, I suggest you go out and find some happiness in real life mate.

Hahaha, plenty of happiness in my life at the moment mate, just found out yesterday in fact that my wife's bump is a boy, so another son for me to bring to City in a few years.

I'm not looking for anything, he passed to the most obvious option, something we wouldn't ever have discussed had Fernando done what even amateurs do on a regular basis.

Congratulations on the bump.
It wasn't the most obvious option though. That would have been to slow the game down seeing as it was seconds after we scored and we were approaching half time. There was no need to make that pass at that time. Once he did Fernando then played his part but both were culpable for the eventual end result.

Thanks mate.

I believe it was the most obvious option for the very reason you say, we needed to slow it down. Fernando showed an asked for the ball so what was Joe supposed to do? Go long and invite them back on or play the simple pass to the man 8 yards away with no one within six yards of him?

We've been here before. Neither of us have changed our stance on the matter and there's fucking no chance I'm going through it again! :-)

Congrats mate! Who knows in a few years if Pep is still here the boy could take ride with him in the taxi haha.
