Interesting. I would have thought it reset after they declined chelsea. Appreciate the update. The only sensible thing for everton to do is hold out until the very end. How much is a month with Pep worth to the brass and how much will everton budge? I love this type of stuff. Very intrigued to see what this one ends up at considering all the great business Txiki has done this window.
Reset? Haha, it's not FIFA mate. This is a mans life we're talking about. The only person who can retract his request is the player. The club can rebuff it, but until the player retracts it, it's still there.

Your last few words sum it all up, yet you and others still feel the need to post regularly that it is us who are holding things up without a scooby as to what is actually happening

Its a forum for fan opinions mate and those are mine, I just happy to acknowledge I could be wrong with that opinion. As there is no proof either way, both sides of the argument have as big a chance to be right than the other but I've never once said you are wrong, only that my opinion disagrees... as some have said, Everton likely hold all the cards and little reason for them to drop the price, so "I think" its up to us to decide how quick or how slow these negotiations take.

I think we will have to pay the fee Everton want, can't see them reducing the asking price, may as well pay the fee now so Stones can have at least a few weeks training with us, instead of haggling intill the end of the window and then paying the asking price anyway.

Thats my concern as well mate.. ;)

Cheers lads...big risk them putting him on the pitch...yes I know it's brinkmanship but if he had a bad tackle

Saying that...It didn't stop us with Gundogan
Injuries are always possible, but I wonder if because we were away in China it suits us to wait until we get back so he has training and some minutes with Koeman rather than be hanging around at the CFA on his own.

That's why I asked for a little clarify there bud. I don't play FIFA career modes or know much about how the requests worked. Bizarre concept for us over here. Seems to have a lot of subtle implications around when it's used or even the effectiveness of it. Now I'm more informed. Cheers.

I don't think there are two sides to the 'agument'.

There is one side who have no idea what is happening & say nothing & another side who have no idea what is happening but blame City for it anyhow.

what is more beneficial the club saving money on the transfer or the player bonding with team mates and learning the managers system?

That's a fun dynamic to take a look at it. It's so dependent on the player, the price, and how badly he needs to be in the first 11 but it sounds like we're possibly 10m off, so maybe 3-6m? Will holding out even save us a couple million at all? Pay it! Screw it!

Well if 'pay it, screw it' is City's motto, why do you think the Sheikh & Khaldoon, plus Soriano, are not enforcing this attitude ?

Because quite clearly, they are not.

Does not look like this move is happening. I thought EFC would let Stones go for what is good money but seems like they are determined to hold on to him. Their choice.

It is esp if you consider how much money the club has could an extra couple of weeks pre season training influence winning the league and repaying the outlay?

yeah very true it is a gamble

Well I was just asking the other poster the question, regarding the Sheikh, Khaldoon etc & their attitude to spending.

I don't think they are willing to chuck money around the way City's fans are. They want to save a million or two on each deal if it's possible & Txiki has shown that it is.

My evidence for that, is the fact that we don't have Pogba & the way we held out last season with DeBruyne & Sterling.

It would be a much easier job for the D.O.F. if they told him to just 'spend it'. I think he is doing what he's been asked to do, make sure everyone knows we won't just pay 'anything' & are willing to walk, if it gets stupid, & leave the club possibly with an unhappy player.

I'm saying pay it and screw the haggling over 1-2 million for the extra two weeks. Are you just being confrontational or would you rather test wills and see how much resolve Everton has? Simply a hypothetical here that we're fooling with for fun. Would you pay a premium to get him in now or not? If so how much would you pay?

For what it's worth I've actually posted that we should hold out until they agree to what we believe is fair.

I'm saying that if the Sheikh wanted Txiki to 'just pay it' he would most certainly 'just pay it' then it's not his problem. Then we 'just pay it' for Sane & next time a Pogba style deal comes along, we 'just pay it' when the agent wants 20 mil & the club ask for 40 mil more than he's worth.

This is club policy imo. We don't 'just pay it' anymore. If we did, Txiki would 'just pay it' & go on holiday.
