In the modern era our best players have been:

1) Silva
2) Aguero
3) Yaya
4) Tevez
5) KDB
But not in that order. Toure was head and shoulders above everyone

Silva needs to improve like every player. He needs to add goals to his game otherwise he will find himself out of the team.

He's not quite as influential as he was. Perhaps that is because City's forwards are not as good and therefore the number of assists / chances he creates had dropped. I don't know if it has, but it's my impression it has. At the moment we have 65% possession in all Premiership games. 4% more than the next best team: Liverpool, but they are creating more chances and have more shots on goal.

The most notable stat was the number of goals we can concede vs the number of chances we concede. The ratio of goals conceded to chances conceded was high. Bad luck, or City being very open at the back meaning if teams catch us on the counter we are vulnerable

Nar I meant it in that order. People have short memories.

Using stats alone does silva a bit of a misservice. He has a lot of assists but ehat stats dont show is the pass before which is often the more difficult pass....the likes of navas and sterling get a lot of assists from crosses/cutbacks etc cause of the through balls played between defenders by silva. There are numerous players in our team that need replacing before you get anywhere near silva....he makes us tick along with fernandihnio...kdb gets a lot of the headlines along with kun but its silva that runs the game and kdb in particular has nowhere near the regular influence or control over a game as silva does...when the team aint performing kdb often disappears....silva doesnt and is still trying to make things happen

I don't think there is any question of Silva's quality, but there is a question whether the 'ideal' City 11 would contain a player like Silva.

I think at present and for yhe next couple of seasons as long as he is fit it does.....without him we drop a level or two noticeably.....noone has his eye for a pass as consistently as he does and his work rate is fantastic (which is something that is so often missed). For me he is still better than kdb who is the only other player who comes clise in terms of creativity

I think he is adapting to his new job pretty well, but I'm not certain he is the ideal man for either the centre mid or attacking mid position. We may find a better fit.

But he doesn't have to be the perfect player for either job anyhow, we have a squad.

His work rate is right up there with his goal scoring prowess.

In time yes we may find a better fit of course but he has a couple of years left pull8ng the strings for us

Anyone who puts Silva at 1 and Yaya/KDB/Kun below him doesn't understand football. Sorry.
I'm no Silva jockstrap, but it's an aesthetic distinction. At their very best, they all brought different qualities to the table. And you can understand football and make an aesthetic choice.

IKlopp knows something about football. Of this, I am sure you know. And he rates Silva the highly. Perhaps higher than any City player. Granted with a qualifier, but highly none the less.

He possibly is the best footballer, especially on the eye but for influence since the takeover and what he actually did its Yaya all day long for me.

I rate Silva highly too. I just don't understand why people feel the need to elevate him to some kind of mythical status whereby he's the greatest player who's ever played for us or some hyperbole like that.

Aesthetics.its an emotional connection. He creates an atmosphere that stays deep and connects with what fans find joyful about football when he is on it.

Same can be said of Iniesta. But that's for another day :)

Yeah its quite hard to distinguish between the two as they are both dantasirc footballers and their infulence on a game is palpable yet both with very different things they bring

He is held in such high esteem in the same way as Andres Iniesta is.
They are both glorious footballers with a level of ball control that is almost supernatural.
They are both fantastic ambassadors for their teams, never a word out of place and a role models for kids
They both come over as humble and good human beings in a sport where there are many many players that don't demonstrate those qualities
They both have been fantastic servants for their country.
