He finished last season with much improved performances, you could see he was finally getting to grips with the system and what was expected from him.
So really that’s all we should be going off, not friendlies, wherever he was good or bad.
He certainly doesn’t warrant the same people posting the same thing over the last 25 pages when the real football hasn’t even begun.
If he starts at West Ham and has a shocker, fill your boots. Until then it’s plain to see he will never win some over because they just don’t like him, and tbh, I’d rather just stick those types of bores on ignore. They say nothing new or revealing, they may as well copy and paste their shite and just add it once a week as that’s how it reads.
His average games seem to get overblown and his good games seem to get ignored. I already fear that we'll never be able to have a proper discussion about his strengths and weaknesses, about what he brings to the team, and what he can improve.

Don’t dusagree, the reason you’ll never be able to have those discussions is because the same half dozen who come on this page to tell us all about his weaknesses are nowhere to be seen after a good game or even willing to acknowledge his strengths.

He offered absolutely nothing against Liverpool on Saturday. He got the ball, moved forward, went sideways or backwards then passed the ball, usually backwards. The same as the majority of last season when he played. Mahrez on the other wing wasn't much better but at least he created a little and had a couple of shots. Whenever they both play together we are slow and ponderous. We need speed, quick thinking and movement. As soon as Foden and Alvarez came on things improved considerably. Jack just might not be a fit for us and our system, sometimes that happens. I've no doubt he could go back to Villa and look great again. More responsibility, the main man and a system they don't mind if he loses the ball. Time will give us the answers.

Bet the press are gutted he won the premier league with City else the “flop” narrative would be in full flow. I think he will get better and hope he learns how to close down opponents more around our box, Still plenty to work with though.

I think we (including me) really wanted to believe he finished season much improved, but in hindsight I don't think he did. Still didn't get much at all in the way of actual contribution despite looking less nervous.

Goal against West Ham to get us back in the game was a decent contribution.

At the start of the season he did very well, great start but then went downhill, a couple of very good performances ( rags) but back to average as the season went on.

Simply not good enough to justify his price tag, that's what you mean like you always do to bring as part of his criticism.

I can guarantee you, until the end of his career in city is over he will never satisfy your specific expetation on him because his price tag will never and i mean ever to justify it.

And the most damning part?, Jack doesn't care. The only thing he cares about is to safisfy his manager demand on him to keep his place on team and for the most part Pep is happy on his contribution for the team and that's already enough for him.

Not really. Pep benched him for practically the whole title run in and the later stages of the CL.
He remained on the bench when we needed a creative spark the most. Pep opting for Zinchenko, Sterling and Gundogan in the final game.

So far, irrelevant of price tag, he’s not been good enough. No where near it. This season he really needs to up everything he’s got.

The only defence he has, is other players have needed time to adapt. He’s now had that period, so fans are now entitled to expect him to start seriously delivering.

He was nowhere near good enough last season, now that’s just my option, but the fact that he basically played zero part at the end of season in the big games would indicate Pep wasn’t happy.
