He affects the game really positively when he takes on the opposition & drives forwards like he did so often tonight. Wish he would do it every time he gets the ball as there is no doubting his ability.

I thought the balance of his overall performance was spot on today. That is driving forward when needed & then taking a step back & controlling the game when needed.

There’s a reason why the Gooners have been on an impressive run & most recently the likes of United getting beaten by them mostly down to these teams not controlling possession when needed.

It was a professional & experienced performance by City tonight.May not have been pretty but once we went a goal up it was imperative the likes of Grealish & Bernie took control of the game & lessened the opportunities Arsenal could either counter us or pump balls into the box. Arteta subbed his skill players on but they simply didn’t get a chance due to us taking the ball away from them.

Could imagine Pep going ballistic if Grealish decided to take people on continuously in the second half & lose the ball putting unnecessary pressure on a makeshift defence against an energetic Gooner team tonight.

One of our better performers again, but he is never going to find his best game playing under these tactics.
You're right but thats partly because of the discipline he has to show as part of a pep team, seems he has a little more freedom with a defensive left back behind him and looks a better player with more freedom, as lots predicted.

I think he's more comfortable with the reliability of Ake behind him than the unpredictability of Cancelo (or Gomez).

Nathan doesn't give him too much help going forward (although he does what he can, see tonight's goal) but he provides a solid and dependable platform that gives Jack a bit more freedom, knowing that if he takes a risk his defender is there to pick up the pieces.

And tracking back to help his full-back out is a much more reasonable demand of Grealish's defensive capabilities than asking him to drop into the left-back space to cover for a player who's gone flying forward and got caught out.

His game is still limited by having no-one on the overlap, but that left side is functioning pretty well with a good understanding between them, all things considered.

Don't think he had great game or whatever posters are. Mentioning here. Made 2 /3 runs which we knew would lead to absolutely nothing. Botched few crosses in the box

The guy is working incredibly hard and is giving his all but in all honesty is he good enough as a wide player?

Growing in confidence, which is good to see. His set-up for Ake's winner was some excellent play.

Love his energy and drive. And did well to set up the goal. But the quality of his end product isn’t (yet) good enough. Or not consistently good enough, perhaps.

He and Ake have a better partnership on the left than when Cancelo plays. It's still not perfect as I think we will see him go to another level if we ever buy an overlapping left back that can defend. Chuffed for Jack though, he looks like he belongs now. Just need the same to happen with Kalvin!!
100 per cent mate, some of us have been saying it for a while… others can’t see past the price tag.
