Grealish is the most elegant player on the planet, his entire demeanour is one of supremely relaxed confidence and knowing what his doing. Even when he doesn't start he is just always in his zone and makes plays. He might not be a stats merchant but the game is so different with him on the pitch. To have Doku, Grealish, Foden, Bernie, Bobb, and De Bruyne for two-three positions is just crazy level of quality and competition. I would love to see Doku on the right and Grealish on the left but then its impossible to choose only one of Foden, Kevin and Bernie for one spot.

My main issue isn't that he plays badly. It's more that his style of play is incredibly boring to watch. That doesn't mean it's not effective or not serving a purpose or helping the gameplan etc, but watching him in comparison to any other city winger in recent memory is super dull. it feels like he does two things: pass it to the left back or dribble into no man's land until he gets fouled. He never attempts a through ball under any circumstances, he does shoot but his shooting is the worst part of his game so that amounts to nothing. And in the end you just have a winger who's main attributes are ball recycling and ball retention. Maybe that's good for City in certain games, but it's not fun to watch and as a player he's become extra-ordinarily conservative.

If he struggles to win his place back this season and villa get champions league, I do wonder if something might happen there.
