Caught dawdling in the first half and a couple of comical falls, but over the piece he was a potent attacking threat. Put the ball to the front post but nobody attacked that area and stood one up for Haaland who just couldn’t get over it. When there is no fullback threat, the reality is that he and every other winger will have fewer options. Guardiola looked pleased with his outing.

In compiling the cross completion stats, don’t forget to factor in the number of times Doku beat his man and delivered a ball which was cleared off or intercepted because the incoming attacker couldn’t get to the ball ahead of the defending player.
So youre saying dony count his incompleted crosses as incomplete? Navas had better cross Completion

No I never said people shouldn’t count his uncompleted crosses. I’m saying how many of those so called uncompleted crosses are because the attacker wasn’t sharp enough. Except you’re insinuating that every ball Doku delivers to the box that get’s intercepted by a defending player is on Doku?

Also it’s very petty to bring Navas into this discussion but you can go on. Your agenda is clear as day.

He was the only bright spark in a dour first half. Everton had 2 or 3 men around him with little space to get in behind them. The nearest City player was always behind him or the wrong side of 2 defenders. He needs to make better use of the trickery he has to run into the box and draw penalties.

Now this is a more constructive criticism that I can agree to. This guy always has multiple people on him and he manages to get past but there is not enough support centrally. Do people want him to assist a goal and also be on the end of the assist to finish it off? He was one of the few people doing anything positive in that four first half and what we mostly see is abuses and criticism.

He was clearly knackered after the hour mark. This is a bigger issue than the crosses not connecting, because it affects his defensive workrate and his explosiveness when dribbling. At some point he simply couldn't get past defenders because he was out of energy. I hope more experience in the Premiership and training will improve his endurance because its starting to look like an issue.

As for the crosses, it would be hard for prime Beckham to get one right today, Everton packed the box and they were perfect positionally. Its not even on the forwards for not finding the gaps; there simply weren't any. With coverage like that you need perfect timing and accuracy and there isn't anyone who is capable of that, so best you can do is try and hope you get lucky.
