Encouraging. He's been here a week and hasn't had a training session with the manager yet so was never going to set the world alight from the off. Got the impression he wanted to just go at players every single time but he knows that's not what we do and so was in 2 minds as to what he should do a few times.
Great pace, showed his ability to beat a man a few times which is going to be invaluable to us. Also really liked the fact we had foden and doku out wide who are both very adaptable which allowed us to switch wingers mid game.
That's a big weapon to have and a complete nightmare for defenders, we haven't had that in our locker until now. Those 2 on the flanks being able to swap and change is going to be huge for us.
Thought it was a bit harsh throwing him in from the start. He still got in behind a couple of times but he’s had probably 1/50 of the training time as Oscar Bobb has.
I was surprised he started, but he had a decent debut.
He showed his pace and crossing ability in the 1st half and i like he can use both feet and I thought he held the ball up well and looked better 2nd half.
Proper exciting to watch when he’s 1v1. Must be a ballache to mark given how relentless he is both going forward and defensively too. So much so that Tete was subbed!
Showed a few glimpses of what's to come.
Faded in the 2nd half.
Needs a bit of training in pep's style in terms of keeping possession - wouldn't trust him against a top 6 opponent yet because he loses the ball too much at the moment.
My take on Doku is he needs to improve his possession game if he has designs on Grealish/Bernardo role on the wing or become a technical winger like Sane/Mahrez. His goal contributions in his previous club has never been stellar. Obviously he has attributes that could possibly develop to something useful that made the club to sign him.
Honestly not impress with this performance and was not particularly pleased with his signing but as it is, he is now a player for the club and he gets my full support. I just need to see better next time.
Was worried in the first half that he couldn’t see that big white line thing, but, joking aside, it wasn’t a bad intro. He has shown that he can play either wing and go either side of the defender, which is rare. Might take time to get to grips with our going backwards to go forwards, yet you know he’ll run teams ragged when games open up later.
