15/16 financial results - £20.5m profit announced

The figures would look rather less good without the CL run, but it sounds very healthy.

Quick question - Garside in the i claims that upwards of £2bn has been invested by the owners. Is that true? It sounds high to me.

If it is true that £2bn has been invested, then it's surely good business, as the end result is a club worth £3bn, taking the Chinese investment figures as an estimate of value. That's a 50% return

Oh, I'm sure they're getting decent value for it, both in asset appreciation and exposure. I was just wondering if the 2 Bn was correct or an exaggeration (I know, a hack exaggerating City's expenditure... inconceivable!)

I wonder how this prick is feeling

I can't fucking stand this prick.

It was clear to many that Sheikh M. understood how to invest money because that is what oil revenue requires on a daily basis.
Football Clubs generally saw the running of themselves as a special case that only their savvy could make work. They literally underestimated the ADUG vehicle our owner entrusted to handle his massive investment.

I am interested to see how our global plan via CFG pans out.

Just had a quick scan through the annual report and saw that we made a £20m profit on the sale of players so these results are, in my view, disappointing in many ways.

But there is one hugely exciting thing in there that no one appears to have picked up. The Sheikh hasn't put one single penny in for the first time since the takeover. We've bought players like KDB and Sterling entirely out of our own resources. Now that is great news. We are truly self-financing.
