I think he offers everything that Ederson does and more.
I loved that he didn’t panic under pressure. Similar to Ederson….
That’s not easy as a goalkeeper. But he’s obviously got a good talent with his feet
I partially agree with this, but I think he should be slightly more active in planning where the ball is going before it gets to him. That's the thing though recently Ederson has been panicking under pressure and just constantly lumping it up the pitch or wrongly passing to players with an opposition player basically on top of them.
Rather than do that Ortega was happy to sit on the ball until an option presented itself. People in match thread were berating him for taking too long when they should have been praising his willingness to be on the ball when there was a lack of movement and options for him.
Do tell, LMAO...Ortega is great last night, but never forget he just as capable making a great mistake as seen with Southampton games.
Nothing surprising about those stats. One can come to the same conclusion by simply utilizing the eye test. Its basically become a choice between loyalty and a long run of success versus the willingness to explore the possibility of getting better at the position. The idea that there is no one who is a better overall fit for us than Eddy is simply not true or based in fact. Its a romantic notion subscribed to by a segment of supporters who won't consider that there may be better options at this time than Eddy. Ortega may be one. JMODoes Ortega deserve a run in the PL? I agree, from what i have seen,he is much better all round.Prefer him to Ederson
i don't think stephan could be blamed for his slowish distribution , i just think it was the way burnley basically went man for man all over the pitch , id rather he kept it until a man became free,or at least had enough space, stephan is a very good replacement for edi until pep sees fit to swap keepers and makes stephan no1, not sure what edi has done wrong to warrant that change ,but i'm sure our resident goalkeeping experts will be along shortly to tell me what their trained eyes see that our professional coaching staff can :)
edersons performances have not warranted this constant call for him to be dropped , except the ridiculous "oNe sHoT oNE gOal" that seems to pop up if we manage to perform below our standards, which usually means edi is left exposed and concedes , the same goalkeeping experts that are bigging up stephans performance v burnley when really he didn't have a lot to do and his distribution was a little shaky at the start of the match.
city's goalkeeping has always been of great interest to me, i was a goalkeeper for many years , not at a high level :) ,sat and sun leagues and chosen for south stockport for a few seasons , this doesn't mean i claim to be an expert , but i like to think i know a good keeper when i see one , and edi and stephan are both very good keepers , i would be happy to have either start , however i think edi is the better keeper.
all imo of course
He’s a great keeper.FA cup final without conceding a single goal is an unreal achievement
Now? You could say after his 1st game.I think we can honestly say this now..
Upgrade over Steffen!
