He didn't even switch off for Manes goal, he knew exactly where he was, he just likes to give himself that space knowing he has his recovery pace. Well it wasn't fast enough in that instance. Ball should never have been allowed to get that far in the first place anyway but he should have been tighter. Cost us that second goal but overall he was good and without his pace we would have been wide open and exploited continually. Just having him on the pitch is enough to negate parts of their attacking play without him actually doing anything.

I think he does end up being at fault for their 2nd goal, but it was hardly a catastrophic error.

Overall he played really well, some really good interceptions and touches under pressure.

I thought he played well. Put it this way, without Walker we’d be a lot more vulnerable playing against Liverpool. He lost Mane for their second goal but that wasn’t just his fault, our defence opened right up once Salah was afforded to turn on the ball.

His pace still keeps him at the top,but there are more and more instances creeping into his game where he is targeted as a weakness because of his inability to see the bigger picture or not switch off.

Still a class act but now is the time we need to be looking into his future replacement.

I just rewatched the game and several times his positioning was atrocious. You can tell he has relied on his pace his whole career instead of being positioned well like a Zabaleta type of full back.

He wasn’t awful and did some great things during the match and his pace still gets him in the team but you are right we should be on the lookout for his future replacement though it'll be hard to find a full back that has similar lighting pace.

i'm sorry i gotta step here and ask, what the fuck kinda game were liverpool fans and apparently everyone in the media was watching? I hear nothing but people bashing him for a game I thought was pretty good yesterday?

they've absolutely identified him as a scapegoat to deflect from trent's shambolic performance and it's so obvious

He was at fault for the goal but otherwise excellent. Their fan favourite, media darling. Best right back in the world but 4th choice England right back was once again shown to be defensively inept and torn apart for 90 minutes. deflective tactics are in overdrive.

Do we have any news about his injury??
Not yet, it'll be probably tomorrow afternoon when we find out, but it did not look good. Possible ligament?

It was the shite pitch that caused it.

We are so much better with Kyle in the side.

It didn’t look good.

I’m no doctor but it looked like the kinda thing that keeps someone out for a couple of months with some kind of ligament injury. Added to that, Walker is defo not the sort to come off in a CL QF unless he really can’t continue.

Neither of us are doctors but my equally unqualified take was it didn't seem that serious. The issue appeared to be his left ankle rolled slightly under him as he cleared the ball, if that's ankle ligaments it's not impossible to react how he did but I think it's quite unlikely you're trying to run that off. from my experience, ankle ligament damage balloons up instantly and you're being carried off unable to stand on it. Ankles really bloody hurt, something as simple as a kick to the ankle with no lasting damage can cause serious discomfort for a while so I'm not reading too much into walkers grimace as any indication to how severe it is.
