As always, fans literally excuse anything “so long as they perform on the pitch”. Its pretty pathetic. I don’t think a lot of (mostly male) fans realise how offensive it is. Thats the best we can do as a Captain? Like I said he makes my skin crawl and it looks awful on the club.

Sorry, I thought you were talking about morale (which has different standards, like political views) but you are also talking about breaking law.

Actually from your strict perspective the question should instantly arise why he still represents the club in a City shirt as a player at all. Armband or not. As a player it's ok, as a captain it's a scandal?
 
Don’t think from what I say below that I am condoning his alleged misdemeanours but:
As my old Granny used to say, let (s)he who is without sin cast the first stone and,
No one knows what goes on behind closed doors.

As we used to say when our news came in papers: This time next week it’ll be wrapping our chips!

Just a couple of random thoughts to maybe make you smile. :-)

The problems are simple.

1) He is clearly not the sharpest tool in the shed.

2) He makes a ridiculous amount of money. (Not an issue to me, but an issue in the culture in which he lives)

3) He chooses to make his private life public on social media.

4) It’s not the first time he has fathered a child (to his ex-girlfriend, no less) while married to another woman, who also happens to be the mother of his three children.

5) He made the big mea culpa when the news of the first child happened, then tried his damnedest to hide the second one. (Not a quick learner: See (1) above!

6) He already got caught, in two very damaging ways, during the pandemic. Firstly, he had prostitues over for a Bunga Bunga. Secondly, it smacked off him seeming to believe that the rules for the whole country, let alone a married man with children, didn’t apply to him because he’s a very wealthy guy who can do whatever he wants.

7) He has started to become more outspoken, instead of less, with the Captain’s armband and his performances at times this season, especially at Newcastle, have been well below par.

8) What does all the above say about the Club, if the players picked him to represent them, but they don’t change their tune now it’s all public?

9) What does it say about Walker that he hasn’t had the class and fortitude to step forward in front of the players and say it’s time for him to step back from the role and sort out his off field drama?

10) Wonder how Pep, upper management and the ownership feels about all this nonsense sullying the club in the media?

This is why I think it’s really hard for the club or players to act on domestic situations like this - affairs, secret children, xtc. (Assuming they don’t include violence). It may be gross, but it’s not really illegal. I imagine if he was captain and committed an offense that was punishable by law, it would be different.

Eta - Changing “wrong” to “illegal” so @ChicagoBlue is clear on my moral compass!

I am amazed my perspective is considered strict?

Your right though - it is not okay as either as a player or Captain but the Captaincy particularly offends.

Again I am not a particularly conservative or judgemental - but you can be assured I would have no interest or pleasure in doing what he does. I am quite comfortable casting stones on this!

Although have made my point and will shush now :)

Wrong and illegal are two very different things, at least in my book.

Perhaps your moral compass needs a recalibration if you think fathering two children out of wedlock with your ex-girlfriend, while still married with three young kids is NOT REALLY WRONG?!

Your wife will be thrilled when you show her those words, I’m sure!

Yes, I should have likely chosen a different word here - illegal or the like. Surprisingly, I am actually a wife! And because of that, I feel like my morality bar is different than most posters on this board (judging from some of the Mendy comments). I do try and give players some leeway on things that aren’t actually illegal. I’m much tougher on Walker on my gossip forums!

You haven’t offended me. I’ve offended myself, if that makes sense? I have a sort of standard I set myself and I stepped outside that standard.
Too many bad memories hit me I think, which is no excuse. I need to take a break, regroup and come back refreshed for the next match.

Don't care what he does off the pitch, although I definitely don't approve of it. It takes a proper piece of fucking shit to do what he's done to your long term partner and Mother of your kids. His performances this season have been awful, he offers nothing to the team anymore apart from mistakes. That new contract was a glaring error from us. I'd play Rico or Akanji every game from now on.

They've been nothing like "awful".

Pep asks him to overlap, and he's been caught a few times, but Pep doesn't seem overly worried by it, as he keeps playing him, and continues to ask him. Pep aske Gvardiol to the same on the other side, and he makes just as many mistakes.

I don't think he has let this situation affect his football, and I'll be surprised if he doesn't start on Monday night.
 
Back to his best today. Looks like a new player having separated from his wife.
 
Don't think this is neccesarily a walker problem, more a team issue but we have walker on the ball far too much playing play maker.

I know he's captain anf probably wants to push the team on and thats great but he should be knocking it off to somebody ahead who is much more capable on the ball than him as quickly and often as possible. We need him back almost as the sweeper to tighten up this defense not sprinting past their backline.

It’s obviously tactical because gvardiol sees way too much of the ball as well
