What got into Leeds last night?!
It was a top night at Headingley. Leeds were ferocious in defence without giving away daft penalties and sin binnings (thats happened so often this season). Wigan’s try scoring threats were mainly nullified and they didn’t quite have the power in the pack that has enabled other top teams to steamroller Leeds.

Leeds took the majority of their chances and usually average players forces”d their way over the line, like Smith and Mustapha. Wigan let Leeds get up the pitch by conceding pens and the Rhinos made the chances count (in the main).

Leeds had lots of opportunities and Rhys Martyns kicked away when a try seemed certain and Liam Moore failed to award what seemed a certain Leeds try with 20 mins to go.

For the first time in a few years, the Rhinos fans created a raucous atmosphere that seemed to lift the team.

Sounds good!
I've not seen a lot of Wigan, but the Field/French thing seems to prosper against broken lines, but are less effective if the defensive line is straight. Keeping 13 men on the field is pretty important for that, and not giving penalties away. They seem to occasionally get on a penalty roll too and go completely to bits.

The game needs more challenging at the top, so if Leeds get out of their slump, that's a good thing for the game.

That’s what every game of rugby should be like. The amount of strolls in the park with teams going through the motions is ridiculous in this league these days. Wire have been the worst culprits this season. I think that’s why Powell is fucking all the pack off, sick of them taking games like they’re a tickling competition defensively.

There are 168 hours in a week and they only play for an hour and a half of that each week. For an hour and a half’s work a week you may as well put every ounce of your being into it, and I’ve no idea why so many don’t.

Leeds played like they meant it last night. Was good to see. But that should just be a given for every game.

Yet another good lead thrown away by Warrington. All of these new signings must be excited to play against Dewsbury, Whitehaven and Keighley next season!

18-24 up at Wakey with 13 mins to play and lost 30-24
24-8 up against Salford with 26 mins to play and lost 24-32
22-12 up against Rovers with 25 mins to play and lost 22-30

Capitulating in the final periods of games like that has to be down to poor fitness levels.

Win those three games and we’d be sat in 6th and we’d be talking about how many we’ll be taking to the DW in the play-offs and nobody would be even thinking about relegation.

Toulouse play Salford tonight and Wakey play Saints tomorrow.

Kevin Proctor sacked, could be a good signing for an end of season push. Or could just be like the monthly Ben Barba rumour.

England shirt for the World Cup…

Yes, England. Not Scotland’s away top.

It’s nice, but doesn’t look like an England shirt.

I’m glad Wakey are giving themselves a chance to avoid the drop. That’s back to back strong performances with tonight’s win against Cas and taking Saints to extra time.

Congrats Hull on beating Toulouse. Both results were 30-6
