Got us to FA cup final single handadly. In the last four PL games, he was behind the penalty that unlocked the game against Fulham and gifted an assist for the winner, he then unlocked a complicated situation with an assist for the first goal against Westham, he laid off two assists to secure the win against Leeds, today gave the assist for the opener. Pivotal and indespensible when the chips are down.

One of very few players in football whose first touch is so good that it means there is often no need for a second. He can kill the ball in one and at the same time shift his balance to throw the defender. The fact that he makes it appear effortless is all the more remarkable.

His first touch, close control and dribbling were all immaculate today.

When he combines all three with a willingness to run at defenders he's almost unplayable.

He is a different player when he attacks full backs. It’s criminal to have that level of ability and not use it.
He's not given license to do so and it certainly has something to do with the manager's instructions and his ideas about not losing the ball. It's a very different Mahrez than the one who helped us winning the PL in 2015/16.

Exactly, his game has lost that flair, freedom, rebellion, outrage, street smartness and joy. We see some glimpses on rare occasions. He has totally surrendered his soul to managerial and marital establishments.

Oh well, there is always those old videos on Youtube.

I was preferring Foden to start but im leaning more towards Mahrez now on Wednesday, he just has something in his locker to open the game up.

He very much does, but he is just as likely to go missing.

In fairness he has shown better appetite and bite of late,so hopefully that is the version we see on Wed should he get the nod.
